Looking for the next IPSC match?

EOHC October 7th match:
30+ shooters have booked for this IPSC Level 2 match.

Quigley, Robert E. are the only two that have offered to help with match set up so far. Many thanks to you two...but that will not be enough help to put on a Level 2. We need a minimum of 10+ new workers to get this match off the ground.

I don''t know how many people have said it, but it bears repeating. This is a volunteer sport. IPSC will live or die on this statement. We need fresh workers.

I have noticed a disturbing trend out there. What percentage of the male shooters put back into this sport? Our lady shooters, who number in the handful, put back into this sport a 100%. That's right - a 100% of our ladies work the matches (Jenn P, Yvonne G, Julie G, May, Mary K, Monique T). You saw them at the Ontario and Quebec provincials, as well as the Nationals. Also you will notice that they are all Range Officers or CROs.

If there is something you don't like, that's fine. Come on out to the range and hold up a wall and you can ##### all you like. I might even listen.

EOHC SUNDAY OCTOBER 1st - 10 AM RANGE SET-UP. Ladies and previous match set up crew need not apply. It's up to you guys, step up or don't be surprised if IPSC disappears in this area.

DVC,
Steve Russell

Steve;

If you are setting up on the 1st. of Oct. which is a sunday let me
know the time and Curt and will probably make it. Its a 1-3/4 hour
drive for us but i would rather that than a canceled match!

FOR F*CK SAKES PEOPLE!!!! WAKE UP!!!!

There are 35 competitors signed up for the match. FOUR people have offered to help out. More people need to come forward and pitch in now or we're going to cancel yet another match......

....not with a bang but with a whimper......

Holy Cow if I could get four guys to come out to help I could build a Level 4, I hear your pain guys and it is an ongoing part of the 10 % rule. I just tore down last weekends match today with the help of one guy, who happens to be the IPSC rep for our club and his wife. Not taking away from the three guys who helped take the first range down monday night. We have 24 IPSC members in our club. 10 percent of 24 is 2.4

Yep same down here Kingston way, lots of shooters but few workers and always the same ones. Guess some guys would rather buy gas than help out, because if this keeps up people from this neck of the woods will have a long drive to shoot matches. The few of us who do the work are getting tired, we need help and support. For those of you that are helping THANKS, for those of you who are not step up to the plate and help out.

You should check out what they use for walls out here in BC:

It's an 8 foot wide by 6 foot high steel tubing frame with "feet" to let it free stand. The frame is covered with mesh.

It can be moved by one person, dropped in place for a test fit, then, when the stage is all done and tuned, easily staked down.

Also, it's very spectator friendly.

***Match Cancelled*****

Hello Everyone,

Please be advised that the match for October 7th has been cancelled due to insufficient volunteers.

Pretty sad really. 24 members of IPSC Ontario call EOHC their 'Home' club.....and we did not have eough of a response to put on a little level 2.

This effectively ends the 2006 IPSC season at EOHC. See y'all next year.

The lack of help is sad. I have helped setup matches that I did not even shoot.

Testify brother!!

LOL!

EESA DRAMA DAZE....

Almost a year of preparation.

8 Saturdays spent making props.

A Friday off work to set up.

24 hours spent on the range.

Not a single shot fired....:(

Been there, done that. Didnt even get a t-shirt. :D

Can anyone say Burn out. I am so tired of listening to people who have not raise a finger to help #####. I have my own opinions, and I express them but I also work match after match.
I have been involved in multiple volunteer activities and I don't ever recall hearing the #####ing about working like I did at nationals. If every shooter would put as much time in on the match as they do competing image how good it would be.
I honestly believe we are on the verge of another down turn in IPSC in Province of Ontario similar to what happened during the split in the Mid 90's.

I think that's over stating it...

We have the same squeaky wheels we've always had...and nothing's going to change that

We also have some people that are due a well needed rest...

...but...

We also have people stepping up that I never imagined would...:)

All we need to do now is get the new people involved...

membership is up...the number of matches in the schedule is up...it's only natural that "supporting infrastructor" is lagging a bit behind...

I do'nt know about anyone else, but my son and I are not
ready to call an end to our season of outdoor shooting.
Being new to this sport I am amazed at how politics plays
such a big role in everything. Maybe I am a fool to think that
people in such a select sport could just get along. That being
said, I would like to ask who would participate at a level 2
at Grenville F&G in mid Nov. This is not yet confirmed, but we
have a memmber at our club who can pull this off. There was no
reason that our last match should have been cancelled. For
2007 My son and I will be on the IPSC team we will be
looking after all the logistics, which we started this year.
If you want a great match this fall let me know because I
think I can make it happen. You have nothing to lose!
