Looking for an odd rifle

Hello,

I know this isn't easy, and you will all ask for more info, but this is all I've got.

Years ago my Dad was given a rifle, and due to some issues later on, his folks had to get rid of it.

My Dad says it was a Mauser, but the magazine was on the side of the rifle just below the bolt.

Anyone heard of such a thing?

It would be a Krag, What caliber was it? USA used 30-40 Krag, Norway used 6.5x55?

Denmark used 8x58R in their Krags, but they are awfully scarce in this country. Quite a few Norwegian 6.5mm and American .30-40 Krags were sold here, mostly the 6.5 type.

Too bad you don't still have the rifle; they're a lot of fun to play with.

It was years and years ago. My pop dosen't remember.
