Anyone know of a dealer that has some in stock??
All of the dealer sights I was able to check all have Chinese copper wash cased ammo.
Anyone ???

WHen I started shooting that caliber, I picked up 20 boxes of PVRI, and have been using the brass since for reloading. S&B Brass is also very good quality.

Brass is expensive material, and use of it for cartridge manufacture was considered wasteful in comblock countries. For something that is only used once it is really not practical. If you have to make billions of rounds to sustain a million man army its cheaper to make cases out of steel than brass. There fore you'll be very hard pressed to find any surplus in 54r made with brass cases.

As others said ........ brass cased surplus = not likely! Load your own = better accuracy, non corrosive & depending on boolit might even be cheaper. (well maybe not cheaper than surplus LOL!)

You can find brass cased NATO cartridges but I don't know if I've ever heard of brass cased comblock ammo. There is of course retail brass cased ammo but I can't remember ever hearing of brass cased military surplus x39 or x54R. I'm sure some was made, somewhere, at some time, but it would be incredibly rare and unlikely to have been imported into Canada.

Is there anyone having a deal on surplus 7.62 x 54R of any type at the present ???

My Mosins are pretty hungry, but the going rate for surplus x54r is about 275 bucks for a crate of 880. Shipping is always the killer. Wholesale sports had Russian crates of 880 for 199 bucks. I picked up a bunch of them because thats a pretty good price for around here. Keep your eyes open and pay attention to CGN. If there is a good deal, someone will say so.

CanadaAmmo has 1000 new production rounds for $249, free shipping. Pretty good deal... Only 2 cents a round more than the $199/880 WSS deal, and free shipping! Still copper washed, still corrosive, still steel core.

Tradex has free shipping for $239/880.

Have you tried the CanadaAmmo new production rounds? Or anyone who can make a comparison?

I shot about 80 rounds of it so far, fresh in to the first sardine can. When I opened the crate this is what I found on the inner lid.
According to the sheet its machine gun ammo. Accuracy is ok, however I could not get satisfactory group yet. Too early to judge.

Canada ammo I thought had some brass cased in bigger crates but I just checked and not sure if they're brass cases. Any wich way they have free shipping and good prices. Bought a few things there and always had a positive experience.

Not sure about x54 but x39 yes there has been some but it still usually uses a berdan primer so it's a PITA to reload.

I bought 880rnds of the Chinese from LeBarons and about 1 in 10 wont fire. Very strong primer strikes but they still wont go off in either my Mosin or SVT. I think they're 1971 but I'd have to check. I've heard good things about them so it might just be a bad can or something.

I use a lot of Romanian and it's great. Last crate I got locally for $244 after tax I believe.
