I suspect there are Canadian grip makers for SA revolvers and wonder if people could make some recommendations. I’m thinking of a Ruger New Model Blackhawk, Uberti 1873, Remington 1858, etc...

Frankly, I’d love to see a list of all Canadian grip makers that CGNers could support.

Thanks

Brian

You'll have better luck with the Ruger option but the Italian clone guns will be more trouble. All of my Italian single action guns have serial number fitted grips and none of them fit on their supposedly matching siblings. I have pairs of each model in my fleet since I use them for cowboy action. The grips on my cartridge Piettas do not fit back and forth. The grips for my Uberti 58's do fit but not all that well for matching to the metal frames. So those two also need to be mated to their proper frames to look and fit right. Same with the two Uberti 1860's that are separated in age by around 10 years or so where neither grip fits each other. As in one is all floppy and the other won't fit.

So all in all I think you will find that to get a good gapless fit where the wood fairs neatly with the frame that you're looking at sending the guns out for the maker to make the grips fit really well

Thanks for the advice BCRider. That makes a lot of sense to ship the gun to a custom grip maker for the best fit. No doubt an expensive route but if you looked at the price of an antique Colt SAA these days the cost of the work doesn't even matter anymore. :(

Cheers
Moe
