Hey CGN,

Are there any NR chrome-lined rifles in 7.62x39 other than the SKS or Robinson Arms XCR? Or am I SOL? Thanks.

NR = non-restricted

I doubt that machine gun is non-restricted. Thanks for coming out.

It's not a machine gun, it's a rifle. Research a bit before pissing on folks trying to help you.

Not to be found. A needle in a haystack... VZ58 family rifles are made with surplus parts, so it's doubtful that a NR chrome lined barrel will be made brand new, for this firearm.

They could start making them, but that is slim. Would cost more money to produce...

Well sir, what if I told you that I did do some research. I went to Wikipedia and it described it as a light machine gun with a top fed clip. Are there actual SAs floating around Canada that are NR? I've never run into one.

And I hardly consider that pissing on someone. Maybe I should've used an emoticon, sorry your weekend sucked. :(

Don't get all your info on Wiki... this board can answer specific questions better than that... and you do have an attitude.

Even the SKS is NR and can be Select Fire with some modifications.

After more research, it appears that there are two versions of the VZ. 52/57. One is a LMG, while the other is a SA carbine. I missed the carbine version (didn't show up on wiki). I should've done more research before posting. Sorry to the original poster about "pissing all over him". You sir, were correct.

However, this VZ.52 seems to be very rare. Let me rephrase my original post, are there any chrome-lined 7.62x39 SA that are readily available on the market today besides the SKS and Robinson Arms XCR?

This is my first choice if they had it chrome-lined in NR. There's some talks about it on the North Sylva section of the Forum, you never know. But that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon so I'm trying to find a suitable alternative. I know I can pick an SKS for a fraction of the price up, but I want detachable clips (SKS aftermarket detachable clip mods are unreliable at best). The Robinson Arms XCR is another option, if I lived in the Vatican and could pry some gold off the steeples. I don't think there are any alternatives to my problem of finding a sub $1K clip fed chrome-lined SA in 7.62x39, but I thought I would ask the red rifle section. If you guys don't know, the I guess I'm SOL.

Thanks for the help.

I thought CSA makes 58s without surplus parts. All parts are newly manufactured. I asked North Sylva's CSA guy if they could manufacture chrome-lined barrels for the NR 58s. He said that it wouldn't be a problem, but that it's more of a distributor question for North Sylva.

It's widely known that the VZ/CZ 58 rifles are made with surplus/refurb parts, CSA has newly made receivers, with thicker walls. The NR barrels only, are new. (This is what I've read on the forums, anyway). There was a discussion on the magazines, which seem to be surplus/refurb as well. There is a huge stockpile of these parts. Don't let "surplus" scare you, as some are NOS as well (New Old Stock).

I would contact CSA directly and tell them to do a poll on how many people want a chrome lined NR and maybe they'll do a run of them. Don't expect these to be cheap. I think they would sell really good, if priced competitively.

I wouldn't mind paying more, especially if the receiver is ready to attach one of those side-mounted rails for a red dot. I prefer spending the $ on something upfront, and keeping it for life. Would be nice if they could chrome the gas system as well. As for the poll, a recent thread in the North Sylva forum section sparked an interest enough for North Sylva to look into it.

st1264 - Can you elaborate on this a little more? :D

OP - I had thought there were chrome lined VZ58L floating around, but I may be mistaken. These are NR as well.

Was it Rauch tactical or another outfit that was offering barrel chroming service, for 858 NR version?I thought they were also offering completed rifles(chromed)?Feel free to set me straight on this.
