Working with a Lee Enfield No. 1 MkIII. It came to me with a flat sided cocking piece as shown in picture below. There is a small raised section along the top side of the bottom leg of the cocking piece that normally rides within the grooves cut out in the bolt body. Obviously, as shown, the cocking piece is pulled back too far, and is rotated further than it would be in use. The small screw driver is pointing at the part of the cocking piece. What is the correct name for that little rectangular thingy??

As a one-time mechanical designer (if I were tasked/asked to name it), I would call it a "striker indexing lug".

It is part of the cocking piece and in simple terms acts as a guide... if you refer to it as the cocking piece guide lug or cocking piece indexing lug people should know what you are referring to...

Rectangular thingy works for me except I think the front may be curved which messes up the rectangle. Since it acts to initiate the cocking process, how about "#### block"?

I found a "pictorial" on the gun boards site, by a Moderator named "Son". Appears to be dated June 2, 2017 (06-02-2017) He labels it as a "Cam Stud" - who knew!!!
