Looking for coyote gun!

I'm looking to buy a used, inexpensive coyote rife. The reason why I want it to be inexpensive is because I only shoot coyote's a few times a year so I don't want to spend a lot of money on a gun that collects dust for the majority of the year. Most small calibers I will consider from .22mag-.243. truthfully I'm not concerned about the looks of the beast, I'm most concerned about it shooting straight.

Lots of good used 243s around .for sale, 22-250, swift, and even 223 will do a good job. Try some different rifles out for fit. Look at used prices here, local gun shops, gun shows and in the paper. Learn how much the gun you want is going for and go from there. Start saving your $$$ now as coyotes won't be worth much soon, as this seasons prime hides are about done. My view is get a good gun that fits and good glass and have fun.
 
If you are Ok with cheap and ugly the savage axis lives up to those titles. They do usually shoot damn good though. With sales and rebates they can go under $300
 
You might be going about this the wrong way. Perhaps you should consider shooting more coyotes, more often. Then you would have an excuse for buying a nicer gun. That's Gunnutz.

I havnt read all the rules myself, just consider them to be common sense average kinda thing.
