Looking for duck hunting partner(s) with boat in/ near Ottawa ON

So I just signed onto the "full site" as I usually surf the mobile site.
I noticed something peculiar as the mobile site doesn't show avatars or pics; Hyotcanon, you have an interesting choice of avatars, a good ole dirty Harry in a classic pose,.....You wouldn't happen to have him tatooed on your calf would you?

Only kids have tattoo's on their calves... I will have to bend over and drop my Hanes to show you my "Dirty Harry" tattoo...

Well this thread is going nowhere.got One reply, the fella asked for my contact info then promptly disapeared.

I'm really regreting the effort invested in a partners rig. Seems I would have been better off investing in my own.

Sad... I know what it's like to be "in" with a bunch of guys and have them decide someone with more money / better gear / empty promises wpuld be a better partner... I have a tatt myself... It's on my shoulder and denotes my heritage as well as my allegiance to my military regiment...

Op... If you are stuck and near the glengarry area let me know...

I know that you have made similar offers before... I was tempted to refer the OP to you...

Ok so its an hour east south east of Ottawa, 25 min. north of Cornwal......can't say as I'll be driving 100+ km for 1 day of duck hunting any time soon.

Thank you so much for the offer superbrad, I may just yet take you up on the offer, but not just yet have I resigned to giving up on Ottawa.

If you have a chance to hunt the Glengarry area go for it, especially along the St. Lawrence River. Duck hunting in a boat, on the river, over decoys, in the weedbeds is an old great tradition. Summerstown and Lancaster area has great gunning for ducks!

Yep.... I hunt the lake St. Francis area around Lancaster religiously.... and my local backwoods lake for geese

I'm going to search around on Kagigi for a bit, perhaps take a run ove to Sail sports and see what they've got in the way of olive drab kiyaks.
I've gotta do something. Times a wasting

One of our duck spots is a 300+ km round trip... We hunt it five or six times a season and only from first light until around noon... You just got a legitimate offer (go figure) and you don't want to drive 100 km's... But want to spend a grand on a kayak at Sail...??? I don't get it.

Well, I was just looking at the kayak, but the boat is an investment, the gas is gone once its out the tailpipe.
As for the drive, I've sent superbrad a pm in request for his contact info.

I'm still trying to find a way to get out there after work and weekends. This means closer to home options, but as a pure experiance I would be willing to take superbrad up on his offer in the future.

I look at it this way... I grew up with a father who hunted and was priveledged enough to have a family cottage with access to thousands of acres of hunting land... My first firearms were bought for me...

Fast forward 24 years and I was lucky enough to get a good education and a good job and have the means to own my own land, boat etc.... I have met some good folks here and have given unused firearms to guys starting up etc... I have taken guys hunting on my land and been invited to their camps for hunts as well... Nothing wrong with meeting new friends... Sure, I have had to tell a couple guys to get lost after finding out they were unsafe etc... Even turfed a guy that showed up with a sawed off maverick for a grouse hunt...but the good times have outweighed the bad by far...

I figure to be a sportsman you have to be a sport... What goes around comes around...

Hope it works out for you both... Just a note, as it has been in the back of my mind this whole thread... Ciphery, why the preoccupation with a "boat." Thousands of duck hunters hunt from field and shore, creeks, potholes, etc... My daughter got married and moved to Ottawa last summer, my son and I visited last November and in one day scouted, got permission and public access and set-up on ducks and geese... Right IN the city of Ottawa... We got limits of geese and a few mallards on day two and three. Download the open hunting zone map from the City of Ottawa website and do some scouting... When I started hunting as a kid, I hunted waterfowl for five or six years without decoys, let alone a boat, and another five or six years without a boat... It can be done effectively and very successfully.

The only places I know of are water access only. I do not know any land owners and my understanding is that within the city limits all shooting is banned. The surrounding crown land areas have also had NO HUNTING signs posted.
