bogusiii: thank you. I should have mentioned that. I always use quite a small screwdriver for this, as the screw demands. Mins is narrow enough to get in there and pry FROM THE CENTRE.

Large numbers of Middle-Eastern nations bought, or were given, British weapons, as British influence in the area was strong at that time and their armies were, in many cases, officered by British officers.
 
And then there were the Turks, who took pretty much a whole British army captive at Kut-el-Amara; they used Arabic script at that time, even though the language is different.

Sure be nice to find out just what....
