Looking for experience with tactacam

I’m currently looking at purchasing 4 of the reveal x pro's. The data plans seem very cheap which makes me wonder about hidden costs. Looking for some input from those with first hand experience. Let’s hear it.

I have 3 I bought last year.

So far they have been fantastic.

I used them from September to December steadily and then packed two in (paused the service) and kept one out to keep an eye on my property.

It's only been the first year, but so far I have nothing but praise for tactacam reveal pro cameras.

Young fellow and his buddy have a couple and a few of the older ones. They all work flawlessly although the newer ones need an upgraded card. I don't know the lingo but basically it is a faster writing card. Once they got that figured out, no problems. The old ones sent pictures for a full year. The new ones eat up the batteries quicker if they are recording video.

I have one and its been great. Depending how often you set it to send pics it can start to eat batteries and at 12x per cam it could get expensive. I went with rechargables to swap out as needed.

That’s great info thanks! How did you find the data costs? Any unexpected costs?

Data costs aren't bad, but does get expensive depending on how many cameras you're running.

My strategy is to use the tacticams for the specific areas of interest, otherwise I have four cheap cameras that I can check as needed.

Usually I use two of them to keep an eye on access points to my property to see if anyone is trespassing, and the other two I use to monitor additional angles on my stands.

Often they provide other angles to aid in deer patterning and identification.

For costs, no unexpected ones. I pause the service to cameras I am not using, and only pay the multiple camera price when actively tracking movement.

That said, I did go unlimited in the plans.

I have two. I am in Thunder Bay and I’ve found most places I want to Hunt, there is no cell-service. I have also noticed that the ‘security boxes’ are expensive for any trail camera. So, this year I bought some Amazon Cameras this year (Gardepro) and they use Bluetooth to download to your phone, so you don’t have to touch the camera. The cameras are ‘cheap’ @ $100, and the box is $50 plus shipping from China.

The Local supplies (in Thunder Bay) for the boxes is delayed to July. I ‘had’ to order (Tactacam Boxes, if I wanted to go that route) at $60/each from Bass Pro (for the box) for bear season. D&R has the cameras and the cards (you have to use a Class 10 / U3 card). I’d go with tactical from D&R, but place them out of eye-shot.
