Looking for Feedback on those who use .50 Beowulf magazines

I would like a couple of them, but really can't justify $250/each. However if that price got me an unpinned 30rnd PMAG, I would pay double that. :)

Just imagine if someone would built a restricted .50 Beo Pistol!!!

an XCR micro converted to .50 Beo would do it

Then we could have a legal LAR/10 type .50 Beo with 10 rounds of .50 Beo Legal... That would fit a little mor than 30 rounds of 556/223 if my count is good!

We need to put someone on the design of such aberation

OK do a search on the topic and you will find the .50 pistol mag has been beat to death. If we tried that we would get this whole thing shut down. Up til now the RCMP and parliment have left us alone with our 10rd LAR mags. They don't like it but it's been years now and they seem tolerent enough to let it be. Next step we have 12/13 rds of 223 in our Lar 10rd 7.62x39 mags and again they seem to tolerate that. Now we have 16rds or 223 in or 5rd .50 mags and they ain't too happy about that but no movment yet on their part. I can garantee that if we go for a 10rd .50 pistiol mag that will obviously alow us 30rds of 223 that we will welcome a change in legislation that won't be good for us. Oh don't get me wrong I would love them too but push it and we will pay.

If any of you have dealt with Alexander Arms, you would know that the chances of them doing something like creating a "pistol" version of one of their rifles just isn't going to happen. It's not even worth discussing.

I also agree that we need to not make waves that will eventually force the RCMP into re-writing the rules that allow us to use different mags in different guns. Don't flame me for saying that, haha. I don't think they will, but you never know what they're capable of.

From what I've read on here they work fine. I thought they only held 11 rounds though...

Yea my mistake. I don't know how many rounds of 223 those 7.62 lars hold. Just more than 10. Sorry Cancer that I didn't send the pics. Upon further inspection I realize the rivet in the spine does contact the spring. My bad. I'm just full of fails tonight.

I think you have a valid point. The rules can only be pushed on so hard before they either break or snap back on us. It may be best to just let things settle down a bit before we start rocking the boat again.

Just a quick note that the RCMP doesn't create or amend any laws in Canada, it simply "enforces" them. The CPC would have to amend the FA Act.

Why does the armtac website say "***Please advise that this magazine is designed for the use .50 Beowulf ammunition only and not any calibre***" Is that so they don't get grief from clients if they don't work with other calibers or is it for legal reasons or something else?

For those who are using these mags with .223, what would you do if a police officer came and talked to you when you were using them if they did not understand the laws? Do you have some document you bring with you to show them or? The reason I ask is because cops come and train at my range and they have a tendency to stop and watch me and others from the window. Some cops don't understand all the laws, I am sure some would think LAR-15 mags are not legal so what do you guys do to safe guard yourself from the hassle they could cause?

Read through that. Also applies to stuffing more than 10 rounds of 9mm into a 40 S&W magazines.

Why on the alexander arms website in their faq section do they say this:

Q6. Will the Beowulf® magazine feed .223 ammunition?

No, it will not.

The 223 incompatability statement from AA is more likely to allow the mags to be imported to US states that alow 10 rd mags only, Or a disclaimer so that should you try to use 223 in them and they do not work you cannot come back on them about it. Only my opinion and not not based on anything I heard or read.

Covering their @ss probably. Wouldn't be wise to advertise that it does and have people complaining about feeding issues, etc. And to avoid possible legal issues for US states that have high cap mag bans.
