I sure like the price of the Prostaff 5. what would be the best all around magnification combo for hunting and target?

This was one solution I reccomended to the Op....... I have given my positive feedback in regards to Nikon scopes via PM, but would appreciate any additional feedback you guys have.....

I have 3 different setups on my 4 Howa/Vanguard's.
1 has an EGW 1 piece base.
1 has Weaver Steel S35/S36 bases.
2 have Remington's version of the Talley type rings for the 700.
With the high cheek piece on the Vanguard stocks, I like the Rem 700 one piece rings.

Hard to do better for the money than this... A good choice rifle, cartridge, scope and mount.

I have 3 VANGUARD S2'S NOW ! all shoot very Well - But all are HEAVY ! RJ

Recently purchased the Vanguard 2 Lazerguard from Cabela's in 30-06. If you like wood stocks, the Lazerguard version puts the Mark 5 to shame. I like the .308 also but hard to beat the 30-06 for an all around caliber. My two cents worth....
