I have always been interested in BP and that interest was rekindled this past weekend at my club when a member brought in his hand made BP rifle in 50 cal. I was the acting RO and went over to watch (and learn).

Where can I get my hands on a good reference book on BP shooting and loading. The books I have seen (Lyman, etc..) have good general info but do not seem to go into alot of detail about testing loads, accessories you should have or recommend or even require. Also unfortunately there does not seem to be a lot of guys shooting BP at the range (a shame as far as I'm concerned). If you could point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

I've never found any interesting BP books.Didn't care for the Lyman book,too much generalizing.
How about a couple of websites ?

Check these out and come back with any questions.
For accesories,you'll need a powderhorn,capper, short starter,patches, roundball,patch lube, nipple wrench, cleaning jag. around here we pack everything in a shoulder slungbag called a "possibles bag"
There is a "trader" in Nanaimo who carries everything you need, he's not into computers so you can only contact him by phone.250-722-2474 {Jack}
