I recently bought a full wood K11 and decided to clean it from top to bottom.

when I took the bolt apart, I found that the bolt had a transparent grease on it and that bolt moved smooth like in butter.

so i should not have wiped the grease off because when I replaced it with white lithium grease, it's not as smooth and also the white grease turned yellow after a week or so.

the transparent grease made the bolt looked clean and shiny but worked miraculously smooth.

I tried looking up old military grease that they used for the K11s like the autofettenmatt or the waffenfett, but they all have colours in them.

if you have any ideas on any good transparent or colourless grease, please let me know...

Maxima, Waterproof Grease is very close to Swiss Autofettenmatt. I find it works just as well but it isn't always clear. The first tub I bought was clear. The last one is RED.

It's a Silica/Lanolin/Lithium mixture, with several other things mixed in

Aeroshell 64 Grease ( now may be called Aeroshell 33MS) very close to identical to Swiss Automatfett. Works well for me with my K31s. Available mail order from Esso.(Don't do Amazon, way more$$$), just look up Aeroshell 33 grease

Not going to find that vintage Swiss grease anymore. It was amber colored vegetable based and has not been made since the Stgw57 came into service late 50's
Replaced by Swiss Automatenfett. greyish black synthetic moly-lithium base.

That sounds an awful lot like thickened rapeseed oil (canola oil), which was a common gun lubricant up until the end if WWII.

I wonder if there would be a simple way of thickening canola oil to achieve the same effect. I use canola as my default lubricant for most of my guns. Cheaper, and as effective as all the "made with voodoo juice tactical magical gun lube" you can get over the counter.

I like castor oil myself..... as a lube. :)

That's what SHE said

Corwin Arms had Swiss grease, but I think it was the black stuff

Yah, that was the Automatenfett grease, which is still good stuff (I got a couple of tubes of it), does a good job on my K31, still silky smooth cycling.

Pretty sure he's out. Trade Ex has the full cleaning kit, comes with two tubes of Automatenfett, pretty much a lifetime supply, and it's a very nice .30 cal cleaning kit, for $15.

I use " Super Lube " clear multi-purpose syth. grease, looks about the same, It is a heavier weight than Lubriplate, so there are points I don't use it, but I do use it on slides.
I find it stays better than standard gun grease, which I have many different brands.
They make a pocket oiler with clear synthetic oil, it is great on heavy load areas, heavier weight than "syth gun oil"

The grease tends not to be full.

While we're on the subject of Swiss Cleaning kits....
Recently someone on one of the Swiss Rifle Facebook pages asked why his patches would not fit in his rifle's barrel with the jag and cleaning rod. Here is how it is done.

Swiss patches are the long strips on left.

Start at an angle. Use the knurling on the jag as an angle quide.

Make sure you cover the jag at the tip.

Cover as much past the knurling as possible

Square patch could be used in a pinch but wrap it as a diamond.

Remember, cover the tip.

Same applies to round patches.
