Looking For Gunsmith To Cut Down Barrel For Cowboy.....

That's a really simple job for any gunsmith to do. They cut the barrels, reattach the bead sight and either solder or epoxy the space between the barrels. Find one near you and save the time and hassel of shipping. The cost should not be more than about $50-70.

Last October, I had AC Douglas Gunsmithing 518B-47th St. E, Saskatoon, SK S7K 4L3 306-652-7828 cut and crown, install a choke tube flush with the muzzle and install a bead front sight for $75. A full choke tru tube was an additional $45. He did a great job on 3 Winchester 97's. Additional choke tubes are readily available and they sit flush with the muzzle.
 
If it's for cowboy action, don't waste your time and money on choke tubes. The targets are close enough that choke really doesn't matter. I have guns with F/M and cylinder bore - they all work. If anything, with full you need to be right on target, but with a more open choke there is a little grace. At 10-15 yards, the cost of tubes isn't justified.

Flip1, I thought that at one time also. Then I shot a couple of unsanctioned cowboy matches where the targets were just a little beyond normal. There weren't enough pellets to take a 6" steel disc off a support at 25 meters nor crack a flying clay pigeon. Not everybody just shoots SASS matches.
 
As you can tell, there are differing viewpoints. Unless you are made of money, do things in stages through trial and error.... Try the gun with full length barrels first. Cut the barrels down if you feel the need. Add chokes later.
