looking for gunsmith to shorten barrels

Free gratuitous bump fer ya!

Can't help ya with a gunsmith, but just a comment to say how refreshing it is to see someone post a request that both has the location AND a clear idea of what work need to be done to what gun.

So many "I need a guy for stuff" posts by guys that are either too paranoid to fess up to what they own or where they are, or what item they are actually looking for. Hard to help a fella out that does not put a little info in their posts, and a PITA to have to dig the info out of them!

Very best of luck finding your Gunsmith!

Cheers
Trev

I'm under the impression that cutting down the barrel on any pistol in Canada is illegal, regardless of it still being over 106mm or not. Several gunsmiths told me this when I wanted to do the same thing last year....................

So much mis-information passed about by our own.. sad actually.

So where does the mis-information come from? I have heard the same thing, and some busy gunsmiths, while willing enough to do this work, are insisting that the barrel they are going to cut be damaged at the muzzle to make it necessary to cut and re-crown.

Just wondering. I don't get it either -- I have previously just called CFC and told them the new barrel length, nobody ever asked, "and how did the barrel get shorter?"
