Hello everyone,
I am looking to get into IPSC in the lower mainland of BC. I currently live in Maple Ridge and am a member at Mission Rod and Gun.

I have been shooting handguns for about 2 years and I really enjoy doing it recreationally and I would like to make the leap to IPSC. I have been reading online here and the IPSC Canada website, but I am still a little confused as to the whole process.

How does one get started into IPSC?

What are the initial costs in getting into IPSC? (I am looking into a CZ shadow to replace my Taurus PT 24/7 9mm)

Do I need to do a "black badge" course before I can do any practice in IPSC?

Where do you practice IPSC in my area and what is the drop in rate for those practices?

I thank anyone with experience who can help me out in advance, any info is much appreciated.

Come out to Skills and Drills this Friday night and we can answer all your questions easier than on here.

In addition to Slavex's offer check out the calender of events at PoCo and Thompson Mountain. Thompson is big into IPSC and they are almost in your back yard. Attending and offering to help out with taping and possibly scoring for a match will soon have you in tight with the folks shooting and running the match.

Fair warning though, it's hellishly fun and addictive... :D

a basic CZ shadow is listed at $740 CRAFM (look up.) a tuned one is $1280. A belt, holster and 5 mag pouches is $400. I am not sure about mags but i am going to say $50 each.

I would take Rob up on his offer to go out to skills and drills night. it will help a lot.

Yup on the indoor at Abby Fish and Game Club. No cost to spectate. Just bring ear and eye protection. And you may as well bring your guns and gear cuz you're gonna wanna shoot. S & D isn't just about IPSC its about shooting and all that goes with it. What you do with that doesn't matter, IPSC, IDPA, etc.

I agree. Go hang out with Slavex. He can definatley help you with all your questions and you will learn lots about shooting from him.
