looking for help to unitize a norinco gas system in the lower mainland, BC

I hate to bug ya... but why would you want yer gas cylinder welded?

Do this before spending the $$$....

1) Have you checked to see how far PAST the 6 o'clock position the gas cylinder lock rotates?
2) If it does rotate PAST the 6 (bottom dead center), what position on the clock ray method does it stop at?

Get back to us and maybe I can save you a poopload of money. That's my role as the MBR Forum Ex-moderator.

Cheers,
Barney

Barney:

"but why would you want yer gas cylinder welded?" 'cuz that's what all the cool kids do, right ;)?

1) Have you checked to see how far PAST the 6 o'clock position the gas cylinder lock rotates? It comes up pretty darn tight at 6 o'clock

2) If it does rotate PAST the 6 (bottom dead center), what position on the clock ray method does it stop at? I can get to about 0615-0630 with a real he-man effort and bare hands.

and I am not into spending big bucks, Hoping for a beer/ timmies/ what-have-you kind of deal. last one I had done was at one of the Doc's clinic for $25, I was aiming for a similar cash outlay if maple glaze won't get it done . . .

anyone on board here a welder, or know a welder that can help me out?

thanks all

romurra, Don't you have any welding shops in the area?
Fabricators?
Best of all is welder training facility. You might be able to get one of the trainers to do it.

Just ask around.

I've been absent from CGN for many weeks but logged in today to see what's going on....... it hurts to see a lowermainlander struggling to get unitizing done.

I have the 4 day 100 mile house m14 clinic coming in july....... but I could be persuaded to do a one day clinic in surrey between now and mid june if enough guys want to attend.
someone can start a thread for possible interest if there is any.
just so there is no confusion, I am not advertising any services nor representing anyone's business interests, I am whole heartedly retired

so , p.m. me if you want me to do a one day clinic and we'll see how many bodies we get. would most likely have to be a Sunday if we want to have tony available for his masterful experience at tig weld unitizing m14 gas cylinders :D , between may 17 and june 20 after that it's july clinic and then it's nuthin but hunting and fishing in my foreseeable future ;)

This is an interesting article about unitizing... ht tp://sageebr.com/2010/12/16/will-a-unitized-gas-system-enchance-accuracy.aspx

Have only heard from 4 guys expessing interest in a sunday one day clinic so probably not gonna happen based on the time frame and my travel arrangements down from the interior.
That said, if 12 or so guys are in, I'll green light it and pick a date in may early june.

Well... At my clinics I bring all the tools and M14 rifle guages, one could need for tuning/tweaking their m14. The best part is, I make these tools availlable to you and instruct you how to use those tools to improve or correct issues with your rifle. To put it simply, we go from front to back, and in between. My clinics are "gunsmithing" oriented and the goal is to get to know your rifle, learn how to tune and maintain it and how to recognize and solve common problems if/when they occur.
Another bonus of clinics is the networking and friendships that always seem to form at these events.
Being we'll have it at Tony's in surrey, gas system TIG unitizing will be part of the clinic for those wanting it done.
I'll post a thread in Events and Gatherings as it would be against the forum rules for me to start it in MBR I think.

Awesome - can you feel that - 6 guys just went hmmmmm - I can make sure my rifle is safe - this type of gathering doesn't happen often in Vancouver area so take advantage and sign up

I'll be all over this, more then likely can bring more bodies aswell. Is there a date in mind?
Been wanting to hit up the four day clinic but can't juggle work for that amount off time, a one day clinic sounds great.
