Ok, so I do not reload and know very little so hope I don't screw this up. I am asking this for my Dad. He tells me he is looking for the loading data on some powder he has. The powder is Nobel 48, he told me he bought it from Ammo Mart a long time ago. He also said that it came in cannisters with metal top and bottom and pressed paper body. He said something about it being re-packaged under another name (hotchkins) I am not real sure if that is right. THe other same he said was that when re-packaged it was renumbered to 102 or 103. Any help that anyone could offer even if it just gets me looking in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
THanks!

Unless somebody else bought it and remembers, it's going to be kind of hard to get any information with the information you've provided. Get every bit of information you can from the packaging the powder is in. Also, we'll need to know what cartridge he's planning on loading with it and the bullet weight.

I'm curious about the Nobel name. CIL explosives had a plant in Nobel Ontario which closed in 1984. They hadn't made powder there for a VERY long time so it might not be related.

I have a feeling H4831 (Bruce) is going to be your best bet for info on this powder.

BB; Is the canister/package marked Ammomart #48? If so, It is a powder quite similar in burning rate to Hodgdon's H4831. I burned up a couple of 7 pounders of this stuff back in the early 80's. I used H4831 data, and started 10% below the listed loads and worked my loads up carefully. I believe the powder originated from Nobel of Scotland, but worked fine as a substitute for H4831. I do not recollect it being listed under another number. There was also a #49 with a similar burning rate, but it was about 15% bulkier, and one could not get enough in most cases to be useful. Regards, Eagleye.
