Looking for info on a CIL Model 772

One barrel says Model 772 - Canadian Industries Ltd, Montreal - Canada
The other says 12 Guage 3" Magnum Shells - M & F
Zabala Hnos. S.R.C. - Eibar - Made in Spain

My father in law passed this down to me. He used it for geese.

What kind of shells can I use with it? (What I really mean is what does Magnum mean in this case)
What kind of choke would it have (can't really see any reduction down the bore)
How old would it be?

I put a new recoil pad on it, the old one was pretty brittle red rubber.

CIL was an ammunition manufacturer, they had various manufacturers of rirearms make guns with their name on them. Savage
Anshutz etc. Yours can use 3 inch modern shotshell, but I wouldn't shoot steel shot. Yours probably choked full and modified, and steel will damage full choke. You can feel the choke if you push a tight patch down the barrel from the chamber. You could also measure the muzzle, the smaller diameter is full.I don't know the age but probably made in the early 70's.

Zabala made shotguns were of mediocre quality. They are decent guns but a steady diet of 3" mags will loosen them up. Ice man is right these guns are invaribly choked FULL and MOD. The Spanish guns have soft steel and steel shot will likely damage the gun. Buy some SOFT no tox like Bismuth and shoot the gun for ever. Your gun is in good shape and will stay that way with the proper diet.

I have a 20Ga 772 and I absolutely love it. Bought it 10 years ago and it's been put through it's paces. Sure Zabala's are hit or miss in terms of quality, but this one is definately an exception to that.

I love the balance and heft of it, and it's not hard on the shoulder meat when your firing 3" either . Someday I'm going to track down a 12Ga to make a matching pair, they really are nice to look.

Kewl, where do you guys dig up these old adds lol, I used to have the model 607TD, it was nothing special but it functioned.

Thanks for the scan, info like that doesn't come easy or often. Anyone have or had the 621TD? Reminds me of a crown grade Mossberg 500.
