Since my thread in the reloading section hasn't garnered any attention I thought I would try here.

I have decided to take the plunge into getting a PTRD (sorry wallet) and am looking for some info:

How much do cases sell for if you can find someone selling?

How many firings from the steel cases can you get? Do brass cases exist anymore?

What solutions have people found for the primers?

Anyone have some reloading data? "Plinking" loads?

I have a lathe to turn the projectiles but don't have a projectile to measure so if anyone could share a drawing that would be awesome. I can also modify the primer pockets and make an adapter for 50BMG primers. If someone needs I could provide this service.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Have you thought about a subcaliber adapter or possibly a barrel sub caliber liner so you can shoot more Attainable munitions as 50 bmg or even shot shell/slugs . Totally understand your Desire to keep it original and shoot proper type ammo but at this time its unatainable and cost prohibited . Reality sucks ! Innovation Will rule the day.

Don't listen to comments above. I wonder why bother to give advice when clearly have no clues... There are folks on CGN reloading and shooting PTRDs and PTRSs.

Yup there shure are members that are reloading and it is possible to do so but it isn't easy or cheep there is even some surplus ammo floating around if your pockets are deep enough . Marstar had some but you had to be conected in order to be able to get it ( it has sence dryed up ) . There were a couple of other dealers that had fired cases ( last fall ) for sale also dryed up . There was a member out west that was tooled up for projectiles and he has gone quiet for now . Keep poking around you just might get lucky .
