Hey guys,

I've really wanted a Mosin for a while as I think no collection is complete without one. I've been searching for the right example for my collection and I think I may have found it today. Picked this one up at a gunshow today, it checked all of the boxes matching numbers, hex reciever, nice wood ,good bore and nice wood. So I decided it was time to join the Mosin club.

So forgive my ignorance as I'm pretty well read on many guns but the Mosin Nagant isn't one of them.

What do I have here?? Value? ( not that it's for sale but just curious if I got a good deal?)

Thanks for the quick info guys. Yeah the striped stock really made me want it. There was a Remington made one next to it on the table but it was in rough shape, figured this one was the better deal.

Definitely am very happy to have added a nice Mosin to my ever growing collection.

Step one clean the deep freeze before taking pictures of that sweet mosin. I bet it did tons of killin in WW2. Russians shooting fins and then fins shooting russians with the same rifle. I dig the wood also.

Just noticed tonight that it is marked "SS" meaning it's a army loan civil guard rifle, pretty cool if you ask me. I guess I lucked out, and might I add that I was going to that show to pick up a box of goodies from Smellie and to look for reloading supplies.

I honestly didn't intend on buying yet another gun yesterday!!

Wow! That's an awesome looking rifle and not exactly your average Mosin. Congrats and let us know how she shoots, that is if she won't be a safe queen.

No safe queens here, were's the fun in that. But that being said I won't be feeding this thing anything but handloads for the rest of it's life!!

That's all my bolt action milsurps are getting too except the odd box of factory ammo to replenish brass supplies.

Yeah I bought a box of Privi factory ammo at the show I got the gun at just for the brass. Getting a Mosin made sense to me as I shoot a lot of .303 British. So I already have cast bullets, powder and primers which will work with the 54r round.

I've been having a good run lately collecting. Been stumbling across rare and nice shape guns for pennies on the dollar.

The only crappy thing is when I got home my wife was very happy that I finally got my Mosin but she was acting strange (which is weird cause she is a kid in a candy store at gunshows wanting to buy everything!).

Last night she let the cat out of the bag. She was just about to order me a nice Mosin sniper for our anniversary but said she's not going to now!! She said I ruined it, as she wanted to be the one to get me my first Mosin!! Guess I gotta stop buying everything on my list!

Dang it!!

Tinman there's got to be some other redrifle she could get you or tell her you still want the sniper. I've got two Mosins and would still love a sniper just not in the budget right now. Planning to cast for my milsurps as well and already have over 200lbs of lead(wheelweights etc.)just need a melting pot and molds.

I pretty much only shoot cast now. But by the time I sort through a 100lbs of wheel weights I find usually 30-40lbs of it is sink or steel. But whatever free is free!! I don't even use one of those fancy lead melters, I had an old BBQ that missed the last dump run. It has one of those side burners on it so I cook outside on there with 2 $5 skillets I bought from princess auto, one for casting dirty weights to make ingets and the other is for melting the ingets into clean lead.

As for more russian rifles, I told her that having 2 mosins would be better then 1. I'm not really interested in SVTS cause I'm a bolt action guy and I already have an SKS so I guess we'll see. Those Mosin snipers are something that interests me but they are pricey that's for sure.

The mosin snipers are pricy but they are awesome and the price isn't ever going to go down so get one now! I love mine.

Yeah I'm sure they're lost of fun. The real problem with a Mosin sniper for me is to tell you the truth I shoot terribly with scopes! I'll take iron sights any day of the week.

But that being said a Mosin sniper is the only scoped gun I've ever really wanted.
