Vanguard with a Bushnell elite 2.5x 10 & there is a nother rifle out that will do any better for less or more $ spent I shoot Coopers & Kinbers & pre 64 model 70"s because I like them but they will not preform much better than the vanguard TC venture another good $ value rifle

I have a Savage 111. I have fired an Axis many times. I have only shouldered a Vanguard.
I really love my Savage. Shoots very well.
I absolutely HATED the Axis (not much better than most of the milsurps I own) but it shot alright, just sloppy and gritty.
I have yet to shoulder a weapon that felt better than the Vanguard 2 and all I have heard about them is pure pleasure.
These are the class of rifles I can afford and use. Unfortunately, I figure that any rifle I have to pay more than $800 for, should damn well drop, gut, and load the animal on my truck, since they certainly can't shoot better than the ones I have.
I can tell you that my next rifle will be a Vanguard 2.

Speaking as a long-time Savage fan...get the Vanguard! The older Vanguards are a fantastic value...the new S2's are even better. I have one of each. I love the older gun, with my only gripe being the stock trigger. The new S2 trigger is wonderful. I am totally floored by how much gun you get for the money with the S2 Vanguard...accuracy, ergonomics, trigger, quality of construction, everything!
