Hi Folks,

I'm looking for some help locating a safe 400-600m shooting area where i can sight in and do a little practice. I'm new to the lower mainland, moved here in 2018. Now I'm not looking to post your secret spots for all the world to see but if you're gracious enough to share with me I will keep it to myself. Just PM the details if you would be so kind. I have a truck so FSR are not an issue.

Thank you very much for your time and assisstance.

There were major shooting restrictions introduced four years ago on all the roads adjacent to the Fraser Valley. You'll have to go farther away.

"B.C. has updated the Wildlife Act regulation to create “no shooting” zones within 400 metres of select roads on non-municipal Crown land within the Fraser Valley Regional District. The changes apply to recreational shooting and target practice and will not affect licenced hunting and trapping, or impact First Nations’ traditional rights."

"Recreational shooting north of Mission around Stave Lake and Sylvester Road have often been criticized for the oftentimes reckless nature of those involved, as well as the propensity for shooters to leave behind trash and targets ranging from shotgun hulls to propane tanks and junk cars. Reacting to numerous complaints of errant shots, stolen cars, and the literal fields of garbage left behind, the Ministry's new "no shooting" zone regulations go beyond the existing popular areas to include nearly all forest service roads within a similar distance of civilization. Obviously the intent is to avoid seeing similar conditions created in areas that would have otherwise been unaffected by the new regulations had the Ministry limited their scope to the existing shooting areas. The regulations are not applicable to hunting activities."

Not to hijack this thread, but I was under the impression that the "no shooting" zones were "no shooting" zones... didn't catch the "licensed hunting" clause. Passed up on more than a few grouse over the last several years, trying to get further into the bush...
