Looking for M4 red dot optics. $300 or less. Need advice.

I have taken up CQB with my son and am looking for a value priced optic. I am retired and on fixed income. Wish I could afford Elcan, Eotech, Trijicon etc but that is not the case. My M4 requres a riser with 1/3 co-witness. Recoil from .223/5.56 is minimal and will be used in daylight conditions only. It will take minimal physical abuse. Magnification is not necessary as I tried that and had issues with parallax and my glasses. Unlimited eye relief is my way to go. I am looking at red dots up to $300. Holosun and Vortex keep coming to the forefront but I have read good and bad about both. Maybe you own one of these or are using something else so helpful feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
New or used?
I picked up my Eotech for 350$ off EE (Love it)

My First gen SPARC is unreliable and will not be used again until it goes through a warranty claim (Would not recommend)
Don't know about the SPARCII though....

I may consider used but I like the idea of a warranty if I buy new. Holosun is lifetime and not sure about Vortex
 
I have a vortex strikefire, its decent, nothing to write home about. I did have to send it in for warranty, and vortex sent me a new one in a few days. Very good warranty service.
 
Have both Sparc I and II, and 2 vortex scopes. Canadian Vortex owners have their own Canadian warranty claim service in Ontario. I've dealt with them once and it wasn't for any optic related issues. The Sparc I came with a Sparc II riser by accident, They sent me another riser and extra screws for free. Very pleasant experience should you ever need a claim. Vortex warranties are lifetime. Other than that all my red dots and scopes run flawlessly. I run the red dots hard in local matches (rain, mud) and they get knocked around a lot.
 
bushnell TRS 25 hirise. Can usually be had between 100 and 170$ depending on sales, pretty durable, holds zero and seems to be decent on batteries for a cheapy too.
 
I have a Holosun 403C and a SPARC1 as well as EoTech. The EoTech certainly is a cut above, but I've not had problems with the Holosun or SPARC. Of the two I would recommend the SPARC as mine has seen a lot more rounds and it has remained solid.
