Based on these photos, would I be correct in concluding that this is an Izhevsk ex-sniper of the PU variety?

The bore & rifling look brand new and the crown is smooth and uniform. I could easily convince myself it had never been fired, but it's a 1943 so that seems distinctly unlikely.

I don't have any way to measure the headspace without taking it to a gunsmith, so I'm just going to shoot it and hope for the best.

Got some Okie gauges in the mail. The bolt closes to what looks like about 55 degrees on the No-Go gauge, using the "eyeballing a protractor" method with 90 degrees at vertical. Still haven't been out shooting it though, maybe next weekend.

You will be fine without headspace gauges. It is a refurbished rifle - these dimensions would have been measured during refurbishment. Seventy + years of sitting haven't changed anything.

correct on the head spacing, nice rifle i think these rifles are under appreciated .Built a couple my self they are good shooters and fairly easy to rescope
