Looking for Mossberg 151k

The 151 is a great choice, I love mine and if you monitor this thread a few 151 experts will chime in shortly. Winnipeg Toymaker should reply shortly with his tales of gopher sniping with the mossy. The Equipment exchange is your best bet $150 seems to be the going rate for them +/- a few bucks depending on condition.
 
I have one in what appears to be near excellent condition.
Complete with iron sights and a Bushnell variable scope.
I had it out to the range last week and would easily take
it on gopher safari.

I have quite a number of Mossberg .22's, among them a number of 151M's and a 151K. They are nice rifles, but then I like most of the old Mossies. These old Mossies are becoming quite collectible with a number of people jumping on the band wagon. Therefore, pricess are starting to increase. Not near Winchester status but still going up. That being said you can still find a bargain. I bought a 151K last year from a large gun auction in my area. I couldn't attend so I bought it sight unseen via proxy bid. I had a maximum of $165.00 on it and I got it for $130.00. I sure wouldn't sell it for that. When I picked it up I was very surprised as it is in very good to excellent original condition. The next time you can't touch one for under $175.00, so you never know. It just depends on any given day who in your area is looking for one. They often don't go as high as the 151M's as there is no provision for a peep sight on the 151K, Therefore you are limited to open sights unless you scope it. But the 151K is a little rare being made only 1950-51. If you do find one ,try and get one with the sights still on it. The price for Mossberg sights, swivels, etc. etc. are going through the roof. Many people are selling the sights seperately and then trying to get full price for the rifle. Good luck in your search. You have to just keep watching.
 
I did a search and there was one listed on EE by Bitsdoo back in March. It has a Walther red dot scope on it. Asking price was $200.00. It was sold but says deal fell through and has not been marked as sold again so maybe it is still available.
I believe eagleye has a 146B left to sell.

I bought Eagleye's 151 two weeks ago (the day it went up). He has a 146B left and I don't think you can go wrong with one of those for accuracy.
 
I am finally here and yes the early mossbergs are accurate as many of the pricier makes. I cannot toot thier horn enough for the 151s I used in the gopher fields. The prices are rising and the $200 mark is quite fair. Original configurations that have the factory sights or drillings could be more costly.
