Hi, I just finished the aheia online hunters ed course and i am looking for someone willing to show me the ropes in the Calgary area. i have experience in the outdoors threw camping and the army reserves, but no one in my family hunts so i have never had the opportunity to give it a try.

i have all the equipment that i think i will need (camping and outdoors gear, knifes, .308 rifle and a 12 gage shotgun). i see that spring bear is already underway and turkey is about to start and i want to jump right in.

Neil, turkey is about to start for people who have a draw tag, not you (or me I am sorry to say). Bears on the other hand are open. Please study the regulations like it is your final exam that your entire education is riding on. When reading the regs, the little black squares beside the season dates mean that you have to have a draw to hunt that species at that time, in whatever zones it describes.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here. I am not in Calgary but would be happy to provide you with some guidance if you have questions. I hope someone is willing to help you along.
