Looking for my first revolver

I'm trying to clarify, has the 586 been made with a 4.2" barrel? Is it available in this country anywhere? I've only seen the 686 in 4.2". Let me know if you've seen one, I just want to know if it exists.

Beautiful!! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Sell it to me please!

Nice ^^^

So.... What would you guys pay for a 20 year old 586 that looks great and has less than 2000 rounds through it? Mostly 38 special?

Ryvax, if you're selling, I'm interested. Send me a pic or two and I'll make you an offer.

Geodyssey ,I feel your pain brother .
vowed to never sell another gun ...but you can watch a video of me loving it dearly on my youtube channel heer.

So I finally got my revolver. Went with a S&W 686 from Roger at shooters choice, couldn't ask for better service or a better price for that matter.

Went to the range today and broke her in with about 300 rounds of 38 special and half a box of 357. I'm so happy I went with the Smith, it just feels so right. I'm in love with this gun. Ill try and get some pics up this week.

Thanks everyone for all the advise.

Yes, good choice , I love mine... 686p (7 rounds) .

The 686 was my first centrefire Revolver as well and it is pretty much the perfect gun in my view. It looks great, handles well, and loves my handloads. Everyone I take to the range falls in love with it as well.
