looking for new .22 handgun ideas

Hey guys'
well thinking of getting a new handgun in .22 for myself to shoot on a regular basis when I go to the range. I have the M93 for my wife as she called it cute and she really likes to shoot it. I'm not a big fan of it though.
so do I get a 1911 in .22 or possibly something like a M&P .22?
what are your thoughts?
Keep in mind I can't justify a huge price tag, something around $400

A must have 22 handgun is a Ruger MKII.
A little on the heavy side but it makes up in accuracy.Will fit all sizes of hands,large or small.
Can be had for about 300-350 used.

I considered it but since the M93 kinda looks like it and I'm really not sold on it ..I'm on the fence with it.
 
GSG is a nice option. But also look at the less fancy versions of the Browning Buckmark. The basic blued versions come in at or a little under $400 after taxes are added. Another darn nice shooter which never seems to get much loving is the S&W 22A. Again the cheaper variant is a hair under $400 with taxes included.

I didn't include the Ruger only because you don't seem to want it as an option due to how much it looks like the M93. But check out the Ruger 22/45 as an option.

I really wanted the same model with walnut grips but they don't sell it.

Last week Al Flaherty's started selling the walnut model for $360 :ang Its cheaper, no shipping and the exact model I wanted.
I wish I would have waited a week.

Yeah I got it out to the range once. Sweet little shooter. Its picky with some ammo but really fun to shoot.
I love that it comes with 3 different front sights. I tend to shoot low, now I can quickly install a different sight and get it shooting higher.
 
For what its worth, I love my Ruger Mark III with bull barrel, its a very nice heavy gun and shoots flawlessly with all the cheap crap I feed it. The ergonomics of this gun are great, it feels perfect in my hands. My wife started shooting it so much I had to get her a .22 of her own so I got her a Beretta NEOS .22, same ergonomics, very similar style as the Ruger. Truth be told, I love shooting both of them and would recommend them to anyone.
 
Nice gun, but not in his price range and not for a beginner either. Why did this guy try to pump his gun for sale on some newbie looking for advice.

My advice: get a nice condition Ruger MK II in blued not stainless. Best buy for the buck and if you look after it you will still be shooting it decades from now and it will eat every kind of ammo out there and is built like brick sh*t house for any kind of high vel ammo you want to shoot or cheap stuff too and I have never had a feeding issue either.

Now mind you I have several expensive 22 target pistols and nicer than the Ruger, but the Ruger is the best for starter and bang for your buck.

Advertisement, yes but;) I believe it is what the poster has available for sale. Shorts were also used in Olympic style competitions. I guess it all depends upon the course of fire you have in mind but what Bruce has 'posted for sale' is very similar to one of the four target .22s I recently acquired. Mine is a High Standard Supermatic Citation, in .22LR
