looking for new .22 handgun ideas

;)Set a long term objective for yourself. Plan for the day when you retire, have time to play and start on acquiring a variety of, in this case, .22 toys to keep you occupied:D:p:p.

wow
thanks
for the record I'm not a new shooter, probably not as advanced as some of you but just started getting into firearms last year and have been to ranges before years ago
great ideas though
since I own a M93 I don't really want to get something that looks similar cause I know my wife would say what's the point in buying another gun that looks like the other one you really don't like.
anyways.....I'm leaning on going towards another 1911 for looks, feel and to add to 1911 collection but still looking at smith and weson....
so many choices!
might have to bite the bullet and increase price alittle
Glenn.

Anything Ruger...tough, accurate, easy to get parts/upgrades, priced well, hold their value, eat anything you feed them and their adjustable sights are great to have!

You can get their 22/45 line of pistols...in either their Lite model which is the one I own it and it is very, VERY light weight, obviously :p or their standard line of 22/45s...controls are all in the same spot as 1911s, the same grip angle and you can throw any 1911 grips on them. Bonus is that they come with a scope rail and its pretty fun shooting with a red dot on top :)

Good call.

I got the M&P 22 because I already have an M&P Pro and love the ergonomics. Great shooter and easy to teardown and clean. I haveshot GSGs at the club and thought it was fine. Not sure what the takedown process is. Either option is great... But I LOVE my M&Ps!

A short while ago I lucked onto a Kimber Custom Shop Super Match II:D in .45 ACP.

I 'was' thinking of getting a Kimber Rimfire Super in .22 as a mate for it but:redface: weakened on a few other .22s the guy I got the .45 from had.

I've been eyeing the m&P 22 but I think I need to go to target sports and handle one to see how I like it.
you think some of the sponsors will have boxing online sales?

I recently picked up the Norinco Sportsman 22 LR just because it was cheap. I was pleasantly supervised with it and everyone who's had a chance to shot it likes it as well.

GSG!

I just picked up another one. My original one has upwards of 10k rds through it, I have yet to go beyond a bore snake and a quick cleaning. It just keeps on going.

I picked up the black version so I could do a Zombie hand gun build. Laugh2

It is a nice, heavy gun to start with and it will make your transition into a 1911 easier

Damb..
I was looking towards a m&p but now...
If I go with another 1911 with rounded trigger guard maybe I'll be able to get it to fit my serpa holster...nice.
Glenn.

The Sig Sauer 1911-22 is nice to, similar to GSG but comes with two mags. Good reviews to, around $400-430., recent gun shop sale had them for $369. Still kicking myself for not going...

Sig 1911-22 is the same gun as the GSG 1911. Made by GSG for Sig. No need to pay a premium, unless the Sig finish is better (not sure if that's the case).

well I think Im going to go with the GSG 1911TAC
I'm still swaying back and forth but for those who have the GSG and also have a 1911 in either 9 or 45 how do you compare it to those....
I also need to know have anyone put it through a good test and break down for cleaning similar to its big brothers?
I kinda want to go shoping tomorrow but don't want to rush cause this purchase will be my main range gun that won't break bank for ammo.

You've made a great choice.

Coles notes:
Take down is different than a "real" 1911, Allen key needed, no big deal
They prefer decent ammo, cci mini mags work the best in mine
The feel of the gun is all 1911. I have many 1911's and I enjoy shooting the GSG because of how "authentic" and true to the design it is

My original gsg has 1000's of rds through it, bore snake it and keep going! The finish is not stellar, but not bad either.

Good luck, get one and shoot the snot out of it...
