Good Bang for the Buck

You can not go wrong with Ruger. I had my SR9 for a year now with close to 1200 rounds through it without a hickup. The SR9 had some recall problems at the start but has since been fixed. People complain about trigger pull but let me tell you after almost 1200rd the trigger is great, also wolf springs is making a spring kit for the SR9. The accuracy it my hand after sighting in is great can not complain. It fits a smaller hand. For the price $550.00 to $600.00 new you can not go wrong. I also have some Norinco 9mm knock off's that shoot pretty too.

I don't think that you'll be making a mistake buying a Ruger. They are well made guns and priced right.I too used to knock Norincos but after buying a police model 45 I have since changed my tune.

Norinco Police from Canada Ammo is a far better gun than the ruger SR9. That said I did Enjoy my SR9 for the year I had it. Put over 1000 rounds through her and sold her to a fellow CGN for 500 delivered. The price is great and the gun is to. Don't overlook the Norinco though. I am just having a set of sights installed, and wouldn't dream of selling it. Alot of gun for very little money. I think I paid 370 delivered from Canada Ammo. The 1911 has so many aftermarket options, unlike the Sr9. YOu could go nuts on brownells parts, and have a fantastic 1911 for 600 bucks, or just keep it stock and still have a great gun. A set of sights is a must though.

I shot the DVC one a few days ago for the first time as well.

Solid performer that groups sweetly without a lot of special care. However it does have one of the most spongy triggers of any gun I've ever shot. It's like you're squeezing some sort of plastic toffee that decides to release the shot at some point without a clear sort of break. Also the flatness of the grips would take some getting used to. Mind you it sure didn't affect how I was able to place my shots. It just felt different from my Shadow, 1911 and a lot of the other DVC guns I've shot.

First group 10 rounds slow fire for accuracy. Group was about 2.5 inches for the bulk with a couple of flyers that opened it up to a 4 inch group at 12'ish yards. Shooting the second mag of 10 at a more rapid pace at the same target opened up the main group to around 5'ish inches with a couple of flyers that would open it up to 7'ish. I'd be hard pressed to do as well with my own Shadow that I've shot for a long time. This sort of performance made me a believer as well.

All in all I was highly impressed. But I would sure be wanting to do some trigger work with a kit or mods of some sort.

If you want a great gun check out a Glock 17. Just got a steal on mine and love it. I didn't like the feel in the store but after firing it I am in love. My newest gun and prolly the best group iv'e shot. this is at about 20-25 feet.
