Looking for opinions on a new electronic powder dispenser. What is the best bang for

The margarine container (the plastic piece around the pan) is in fact a shield. I have a fan running when I load, that shield keeps the drafts down to a minimum.

The tall brownish container is an old medicine bottle, that's what I use as my powder pan. I kept the cap that fits on it, and put the cap back on when not using it, just to keep dirt out of it.
I wrote down the tare weight of the empty container, and check it against the scale.
The nice thing about the tare zero is that if a kernel of powder is left in the container after I pour it, the tare will not be the same.
That tells me something is left in the container or it's dirty.

The balance is a Sartoriuos EL103, it reads to .01 grains (.001 Grams).

This set up is very good IMHO, it's also faster than most auto feeders I've used.
When weighing bullets or cases, it takes about 5-6 seconds to stabilize and give a final reading, remove the bullet from the pan and it takes about 2-3 seconds to zero.

It's certainly a confusing topic, three basis for that answer came from a couple of sources, the major one being a friend of mine who has a doctorate in organic chemistry. It's interesting though, when you look at the real cheap scales, how you may see a number but can't necessarily trust it. That really threw me for a loop

Sorry Tjsudbury, I got it from work, no idea what the price may be, I think Sinclaire use to sell something similar in the
3-400 dollar range.
Originally, it was an ELT110, I changed the board because of the resolution, it drove me crazy.
I use to put masking tape over the last digit on the display, but kept peeking under it.

Now, it's an actual ELT103 board in it. Even at .01 Grains, I sometimes have to change the operating parameters
to increase the stability range, especially when weighing cases or bullets, just to speed things along and
keep my sanity. Being anal has it's problems.

Please read krprice84's posts, they explain in clear, concise and understandable language what I've been trying to say
but failed miserably.

I think those retail for upwards of a grand. You can get the a&d fx-120i for 525 from Cambridge in Ontario and its very good. It uses force restoration also.

The other option, though, as I mentioned, is finding an analytical scale on eBay. My Sartorius it ten times more precise (though the scale he mentioned is more than plenty for what the best bench rest shooters would likely ever need). A kernel of Varget weighs enough that you could resolve a single kernel on the fx-120i or the el103 etc. Get down to ball powder, and I'm not sure you could. Even small kernel extruded like benchmark or oem 8208 and you may not resolve individual kernels well enough to count em.... but even then, I can't imagine a single kernel of such a small powder would have a significant enough effect anyways.

On most analytical balances you can adjust the resolution too, so that you can't see the last digit. This gives you the advantage of being able to mentally ignore an insignificant digit, if you want to, by not seeing it. But if you want to pay attention and get accurate to nearly a thousandth of a grain, you can do that too!

Found it.
It's in Sinclair's 2011 catalog. I did see it, I didn't think my memory was that bad.
It's priced at $324.95, not sure if they still sell them.

It is an older made in Germany magnetic displacement balance, it only reads in Grams (not grains) .0001 grams.
And it works great, tried to sell it a few times on the EE, but could not get what I was asking for it.
It weighs about 50 Lbs and would be a real pain to prepare it for shipping, it has to be dismantled
to keep parts from being damaged. I still use it once in a while just to check my "calibration"
weights. It's all part of the "anal" thingy........and the cost was right, I got it free.
