Looking for people interested in Southern Alberta PRS Matches

I have been interested in PRS style shooting for awhile but don't know of any comps or people involved to show me anything. I would be interested in just coming to see what it's all about if it's close enough to me.

Really you don't need anybody to tell you about it. If you can, just make it to some competitions. Everybody is friendly and willing to help out.

The biggest thing is to have the baseline covered for gear requirements. Other then that, just have fun.

I have found that with other shooting competitions as well (ie: Trap). Everyone seems friendly and more than willing to help answer any questions.

The problem is that I have no idea where to even start when it comes to gear for a PRS style shoot. I have a Remington 700 VSSF II 22-250 with BDL bottom metal and a bipod, that's about it when it comes to PRS gear haha. I see in most comps guys run DBM setups on their rifles.

That's a good start, only thing I'd do different is install a detachable mag system. As far as the rest of it goes you learn as you go. Biggest thing is to know your gun and your dope. A good scope with a zero stop is a big assist as well.

For sure am interested in PRS match. I am a member of the RMH Gun Club also. I am sure that there are more than a few members at the RMH range that would also be interested.

My shooting partner as well as a few of my other precision rifle buddies I know would be interested. I would think that if a match like this was put together the spots would fill up in no more than a day.

One of the organizers of the once loved Alberta Long Range Challenge is also from Rocky.

Would be interested in what is currently in the works, also be interested in helping in some way. PM me with your number if you would like to discuss further.

The best thing that you could do is round up the folks who like to shoot long range at RMH and attend a monthly meeting. Once the exec knows there is intrest for this type of thing getting permisssion to hold them becomes that much easier. In speaking to Ryan as we have hosted a couple PRS style matches we both agreed RMH would be a great range to have on board as it is central to the northern and southern Shooters and has the facilities required.

would like to make some PRS matches in 2017 given the lack of 3gun. Picked up a RPR that is itching to get out.

Ryan, definitely interested, as would a couple other guys I shoot with. I've been attending the Poker Rally each of the last three years and that one is a must for me (fantastic folks there - momentarily restores my faith in humanity). However, we may also consider loading up the bus with a bunch of hick slobs from central Saskamabush - we'll bring Pilsner

Clocked92; if you're interested in travelling to the Saskatoon area, I finally have a few good courses of fire tested out and will open things up a little next spring. Thinking of combining it with the Boostrap M14 Clinic & shoot we run every spring. PM if this appeals to you. Think of it as a practice run for Team Sask prior to invading Ryan's shoot:)

Will do! Currently my gun is scopeless though. Hopefully should have a scope on it in the next couple months

There should be lots of opportunities for everyone interested to get out and try as we have have a few irons in the fire to put on a few more matches this year. We just don't have dates written in stone yet but will keep everyone posted on dates and locations as we finalize them.

That being said would anyone be interested in a challenging but shorter range (out to 300 yards) match in Medicine Hat if we could host one there? Just would like to judge interest before we approach the club with a match.

Looking for people from Lethbridge/Medicine Hat kind of area that would be interested in expanding the sport.

If anyone has any interest in getting something going (with lots of help) please let me know.

Please PM me - Thanks!

Wow!
If you can get this thing going. I know a ton of guys that would make the trip up from the lower 48.

Our first match is June 3rd in Taber Alberta. Everyone is welcome. Check out the thread "Southern Alberta Precision Rifle League" if you haven't already. The goal is to have a few matches this year

I am hoping someone who has a membership there is interested in PRS and we can use that to get some matches there - hint hint.

The RMH range is available for rent (the Rob Furlong MA uses it) and it goes out to 600M. It would be a great spot to have a match.

I have made initial contact with the club but need help to take it further.

Ryan
Be sure the RMH member is a member that lives in the RMH area, they have far more sway (voting privileges and such) than say members from Calgary or Edmonton in so far as getting anything to happen.
This I learned from experience. The range would be a good choice for location and the manner it is set up.
Good luck!!

Thanks ATRS!

I am hoping that an event could be set up there in the future but the boys over at WRAS (good fells BTW) may have that region covered with the Edson matches.

It will be a great year for PRS shooters who want to stay local (or at least in Alberta) as it sounds like there will be a good number of events on the calendar.

The real key going forward will be finding a range that can accomodate multiple stages at the same time with extended distances (1,000M+). Anyone a member at the Consort range?
