I have an XCR on the way, and am excited. It is for hunting so I want a good scope. I may start with my 2.5-10 x 40 bushnell elite, but think something with target turrets might be better (I will be picking up a 6.8 SPC barrel also) to dial from 1 barrel to the other.

Here is a pic l borrowed a portion of from the EE. What height rings, qd, size scope would you recommend? Do you suggest 1pc with QD (I don't want to spend more than $100 on rings), or 2 pc like the pic? What height is best for cheek weld with the fixed tube stock? Does anyone have 6.5-24 x 44 size scope for varmints?

I have a leupy mark iv 3-9x36tmr on mine. It has 30 mm quick release rings. The only problem is that they're really low because it was originally on my m14.

I don't have pics at the moment but I use a Falcon 1.5-5x30 scope on my XCR. Has a 30mm tube and I use Leopuld QRW quick release mounts, medium height as I recall. I'm using a different stock now, but the cheek weld with the original stock was fine.

If you are looking for a scope with more magnification and target turrets, you might want to look at the Falcon scopes. Good quality for the price ( I also have the 4.5-18x56 on another rifle ). Take a look at the Frontier or Allen Gun Works websites at the top of the page for more info.

I put mine together on the weekend....

I put a Burris 3-12x50 XTR tactical on mine with Arms High 30mm throw levers.... It looks sick ( I know, I know.... pics right????)

It fits great, however, I thought that it looked high, (3/8") and I had to knock off the sights, but when I checked the cheek weld, it fit me perfect. I have a big head so the extra height fit like a dream...

Anyone else find the stock on these things short????? I'm 6'1" and I find it very compact for my frame....I had to order a Magpul PRS, maybe that will fit me better.

Gord.

I can't post pics now, but will do so latter tonite.

I got two setups, both with my 762x39 XCR.

Millett 1-4 DMS: Med Burris Tactical. $85 per pair.

Falcon 4-14x44: Med Leopuld QRW. I forget what I paid. Got from Marlin @ Frontier.

The only problem with either setup, you can't have the rear BUIS mounted to the rail. Not enough room under the optic. Need low profile rear BUIS or higher rings.

You might find some of these pictures from the XCR Forum to be of interest.

I just ordered a GG&G FLT one piece scope mount from Wolverine Supplies. Once I get it I'll post a photo of it on my XCR with a Falcon 1.5-5x scope.

I believe that I have TPS mediums on my Black Special Target. The 3.5-10x40mm Mark 4 has just enough clearance between that the flip-up scope cover doesn't touch the forearm (forearms is proud of the top of the receiver about 1/8"). I would think that mediums would work on the XCR as long as you don't drink the kool-aid and run a 50mm scope.

Hey thats the xcr i bought!!!!!! You owe me royalties!~!!!

Congrats frenchyguy! Did you buy the scope also? It is one of my top choices, I am only a little unsure based on the high fixed power. I keep the burris on my 22-250 bolt around 10x or so and make some running shots on yotes. I worry though, when I use it for deer, that it might be too powerful for close shots in the bush. Also the fixed power has better, constant eye relief, when I dial up my 2.5-10 the image is harder to keep in the center...

What optics are you planning on?

i have a 3.5 X 10 X 40 barska swat I.R. , high barska mounts, but for everything 100 yards and under i go with the MI irons. i love them irons! i can keep it within 6 inches at 100 yrds, with bipod only. thats a kill shot in my books.

I've switched my Nightforce 2.5-10x24 on it with a larue mount. With an Ace socom M4 stock check weld is perfect. I'll try to get a picture of the setup.

Thanks guys - I noticed that the scope in my OP has the occular lens over the stock, while some of the pics I have seen (thanks for the heads up on the 40 page gallery XCR forum, but still not a lot of rifle scopes, mostly eotech etc) of other scopes have the occular lens well onto the rail, which sort of looks odd to me, like a scout rifle. With a 13" LOP, I am interested to see how far back it is comfortable for me to mount the scope.
