Looking for precision 10/22 build advice

It may look like a Kidd bolt but its not. If you look closely theres no cross pin to keep the firing pin from moving horizontily. Consistent ignition is paramount in rimfire accuracy. Its the main reason I prefer the VQ Comp bolt. It relieves the crossover charge handle and has a titanium firing pin going straight thru the bolt body like a centerfire. It doesnt get any better,I know cuz Ive tried just about everything to squeeze out the ultimate in accuracy.
Yeah I have an SF-1 from Volquartsen in 22mag with that round firing pin. It's nice.

Their competition bolt is the FERRARI of 10/22 bolts PERIOD. I know cuz Ive owned them all and its just a great design but KIDD Triggers and Barrels are it and nothing Ive used comes close and again Ive owned them all!!!

I don’t see the cross pin that it’s missing, it appears to have the same pins as the Kidd to me. I like how the vq has the handle screwed directly into it

Theres a pin thats called a STAKED firing pin. It goes thru the bolt body to keep the tapered shaped firing pin from moving up or down. Many benchrest rimfire guys shape their own firing pins and play with different spring weights. Ignition in rimfire firearms are as or more important than lot numbers. Or so Ive heard LOL

I started trying to upgrade a factory rifle, new barrel, new scope rail, bolt parts, trigger parts, then ended up with a Grey Birch receiver and bolt and then BX trigger pack in an Oryx chassis and with the IBI barrel it's been a great PRS style rifle that will make fairly consistent hits on a 14" plate at 450 yards.

What scope and rail are you using? Great shooting rig you have. Nice when everything comes together. What ammo are you shooting? Cheers Chris

Well yesterday I decided to pull the trigger on an oryx chassis off the EE. Today the bushnell match pro ed went on sale for $100 off so I ordered it and some Burris signature zee rings. I’m waiting until the new dnt 5-25x56 comes out before I decide if the mped is a keeper. Now I’m looking for a bipod. The oryx has a full length arca rail so it has to be arca compatible. Do y’all have any suggestions? It seems like the grnd pod isn’t a bad way to go

I have the grd. pod, it is OK, but the cant adjustment always comes loose and I have tried an assortment of lock washers to try and improve it.

Hey there Gun Nutz,
A couple days ago I was looking through gun post and I came across a ruger custom shop 10/22 in a green mountain laminate stock and out of nowhere that sent me spiralling into a rabbit hole. That one has since sold but but now I’m itching for a 10/22. As far as 22’s go I’ve only ever had a Henry lever action so this is a bit of a new world for me. I’ve spent the last 3 days straight learning as much as I can about 10/22’s and I love to tinker with stuff (cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc…) so I think piecing one together might be a fun way to go. I’d like to build a 1/2” gun at 50 yards as cheaply as I can (for now) preferably under $1500. As of right now I’m looking at a dlask tuf 22 receiver with an integrated pic rail, a Kidd bolt, Kidd spring set, ruger bx trigger, green mountain 16.5” or 18” barrel and maybe a magpul hunter stock. But I’d love to hear any suggestions from the pros on here!
I would throw a Timny 2 stage on it and a heavy barrel and a decent stock, cleans ur budget but it’s really all u need on a 10/22 maybe a mag release and a upgraded bolt handle for looks
Opinions may varry

When it was upgrading the factory receiver I went with the MDT rail, the Grey Birch is machined in. For Scope I am currently running a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25 on it but considering swapping over an Arken EP5Gen2 7-35 onto it, haven't decided yet.

It usually runs SK Rifle Match but if I'm low I'll run the SK Long Range Match that my Bergara prefers.

Well here it is in its final state and here’s how it shoots at 50 metres with cci ar tactical at -1 Celsius using a tarp as a rear bag. Can’t wait to see what it’ll do with good ammo and a rear bag!
