Wanting to get the kids out with me this year during bow season.
Im looking to purchase a good quality COMFORTABLE two man stand.

Im a pretty big guy, and would appreciate a stand with a wider ladder than seems standard (if possible).

Use a crossbow, so back draw space isnt super important.

In my experience, a double tree stand is just enough room for me alone. Ive used both single and double stands, and prefer the double by far. The ladder doesn't need to be extra wide, but the seating room is important. Especially if your going to spend a few hours at a time sitting in it.

I have a stand by "Big Game tree stands" and it works fine. Not a lot of room under the bar when you turn to sit though. I mostly use it to establish where I want to build a more permanent wooden stand that's as big as I want.

Though I have no practical experience with two man tree stands I have read plenty of reviews and the stands made by Muddy seem to get much better ratings then the competition so I would start there. I am in the same position as you taking the kids hunting with me this year. I’m going with pop up ground blinds to give them the ability to fidget without spooking anything. Hunting with kids is about keeping them comfortable and interested. I’m not sure how old your kids are but I know if I placed mine in a tree stand and told them not to move a muscle for hours on end I would either see no deer or quickly find myself hunting alone.

I have a Big game double tree stand and it's a pile of junk. Very poor instructions and not very comfortable. Make sure the one you get has a comfortable back rest. A second thing about the big game is it came with two safety harnesses. Must be made for an 8 year old because they are way to small. Don't cheap out. Get a good one.

not sure what brand mine is.... it is a "deluxe" 2 man.
Fits us two skinny guys just fine.
It was in sale at canadian tire a couple years ago in a 70% off managers clearance..... was a killer score and I couldn't resist.

picked up some camo netting and made an easy to attach/remove apron to hang around it to hide movement below the bar
Has been a lot of fun and an entirely new perspective hunting 15 or so feet off the ground.

I've got 3 big game 2 man ladder stands, 2 big buddy's and 1 that's in a semi circle that wraps around the tree. I really like the design of it and it has more floor room if you have to stand to make an out of position shot. They are all solid well made stands as I'm a 300 lber and they've been up for 15 years and wouldn't budge in a hurricane but no room for a 2nd person with or without my xbow and gear with me to sit comfortably. The seats are not comfortable so I take extra cushion for my arse. I would suggest a model with the mesh seats but I've heard the coons like to gnaw on them. Check out the river's edge stands to.
