Hi Guys,
I was hoping to tap into your knowledge and experience, I'm new to the precision rifle thing and have purchased Savage 10FCP HS Precision .308, I have also just purchased a Vortex Viper PST FFP 6-24x50 scope to mount on it.
Im at the stage to mount it but I want to get your advice on rings and bases, I have two options I am looking at for rings;
Burris XTR 30mm or Vortex precision - the Burris one are more likely my route as they meet my budget, but I think Ill have to have them lapped, as for the vortex ones, they state they do not need to be lapped but are about 100$ more.
Just wondering if anyone knows what an average gunsmith price is for lapping?
Also Im having trouble trying to figure out the base, a picatinny, weaver or 2 pc for this rifle and for the rings, maybe someone could offer some advice for this and any thoughts or experiences on the rings choices. And if anyone has a good online source in Canada for these things
As for a budget I was hoping to keep the rings and base to 200-250$ I have to try to keep it in that range.
Thanks
M.
