Looking for single stack 9mm 1911, or else?

Split the difference. Go with .40. I've shot both 9mm and .45 1911's and the .40 is just nicely between the two and only a hair more money than .45.
Now if you're reloading it's not as big a deal. But if you're shooting matches where you won't be able to find ALL your brass then the lesser cost of .40 stuff is something to think about.

If you go with the 40 there are a few serious advantages.
1) If you intend to shoot a game with power factors 40 'makes major'
2) In most places (where the Police shoot 40) there is a ton of free brass available at whichever club the police shoot at. Even I have a pretty fair supply of 40 brass, and I don't even own a 40 cal. Brass is the single biggest start up expense for reloading.
3) If you get sick of shooting 40 and want to try something 'cool' and high speed you can convert it to 357 Sig. with just a barrel and spring change.
4) If you really, really want a 9mm most 40's will accept a 9mm conversion, but most 9mm's don't readily convert to 40.

Always wanted to try the 357 Sig Which pistol can you convert from a .40 to the .357 Sig tho?oh well I did forget about the .40
Which would make finding a single stack 1911 much easier to find will it?
Edit: Cost wise the .40 versions are much more expensive, going 45acp saves alot on the gun side but ends up on the costly side for ammo, we don't have plenty of 45 in Quebec city...

The Trojan is a great gun and the way to go in 9MM. If you are reloading, once you have the brass .45acp is not that much more expensive to reload and the brass lasts foreveror or almost forever.
I cast my own lead bulets so the cost to me for 9MM, .40cal and .45acp is all the same.
You didn't say what you were going to use the gun for. If for playing IDPA using light loads go to a 10 - 11 lb recoil spring. I found my Trojan would not lock back after the last round using light loads until I replaced the factory recoil spring with a lighter one. Also the mags can be a PITA and do sometimes require tweaking of the follower where it engages the slide stop.

OK, don't shoot me for this, it's only a suggestion...
The $99 special Tok's being sold by Canada Ammo are single stack 8 round magazines. And the size of the overall gun is similar to a 1911 other than the grip frame being a little shorter.
Otherwise I think you're stuck with waiting for a 9mm or .40 Ranger to come up.
Another option would be something like a CZ75 and do some metal working on the frame to modify the front and back curves to be a little tighter so the'll blend with some thin flat metal grips. Doing something like this would provide you with an option that's darn close to the reach around on a 1911 and may fit you well enough.
The NP 29 is a great option but they are hard to find these days. If the Trojan is over your budget why not take a look at the CZ line. Great pistols, not particularly expensive and are very accurate out of the box. The grips fit most hands. Not a 1911 but never the less a great pistol.
