Hi, I am looking for some suggestions on a scope for a .22lr rifle (gun is a mossberg 144LS). Anyone know of some good .22 scopes that aren't super expensive ($200 or less), and should I get a scope specifically for a .22lr? I will be shooting targets at 100yrds, weight doesn't matter, would prefer one with decent magnification (3-9) at least.

have a look at the Hawke Varmint SF 4.5-14 its around the $200 mark I think they also have a 3-12 model for a little cheaper

I've had good luck so far with a bushnell rimfire 3-9x32. I'm more just for plinking, so if you're going to be doing anything more serious than that you might want something more.
I've also used a simmons 22mag 3-9 and it had worked well so far, but the bushnell rimfire was far better in quality.

I haven't use one myself, but I have heard of quite a few guys who use the Tasco Varmint scopes for 100m shooting and like them. they're no Nikon/leupold/ect, but they won't break the bank either.

A\O not made in china for 200$... the closest to your budget that i know of is the NIKON - PROSTAFF RIMFIRE II - 3-9X40 - MATTE TARGET EFR PRECISION RET. - ADJ. OBJ. for 230$ They also offer a 4-12X40 without a\o in their rimfire line for 180$

Find a good used Leupold in 2x7 or 3x9 and fiddle with the front ring to
set the parallax back to 50 yards or so.
Gewgle Youtube for how to.
Not real hard to do.

If you could stretch your budget to $246 you could get a Sightron SIH 4-12X40 AO (made in Japan). I just bought a similar model (SIH-TAC 4-12X40 AO) and I am very happy with it. I have owned multiple Leupold, Vortex, Mueller, Bushnell, etc and this blows them all away YMMV.

I have 2 crossfire ii's on my 22lr.They track well and are plenty clear enough for shooting off a bench. One is 4-16x50 other is 6-24x50 a few pennies more than your budget but lifetime warranty AO and lots of magnification for the buck.

I totally agree. If you can afford, it's great scope for a rimfire. I like sightron SIH series for rimfire use. Two of my rimfire have a Sightron on them.
