Hey guys was just wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to obtain extra bolt carriers for the cz-858; I was playing with my 858 the other day. And wishing I could charge the rifle from the left side inside of reaching across top to the right side of the rifle.

And seeing as how I'm a welder by trade I figure why not cut the handle off and re weld to the left side, I've seen it done before and it would be super easy for me to do, but I don't feel like hacking mine off, instead I'd like to have a spare to do this on.

Just need to be pointed in the right direction I've looked on the sponsors pages and haven't seen anything.
If anyone is in the Edmonton area and would like this done I might be able to help people out once I bang out one for my myself.

Careful when doing this. I had a left side bolt handle manufactured by nea that cracked at the weld under only going through a few mags. I have heard several other examples of this as well from members on this forum And even one guy had the handle break off and fly back at his face busting it up. Would definitely want to drill and tap the new handle and thread or pin it Into the body of the carrier to make it extra strong, but even then it would be possible that it could shear off and come at you. The metal is hard to weld to reliably from what I gather but that's just what I've heard, I'm no welder.

The steel it's made maybe have a higher carbon steel content, but there's no need to drill and tap, it'll never break with proper welding.

Ive done a handle conversion.....

you need to drill into the bolt carrier enough to wedge seat the handle (1/4 inch).... then grove the handle and weld it. so when you sand it down to look nice it has a lot of weldment and a good root to keep it in place.

I wish I had kept the picture.... but alas they are lost...

I bought a full parts kit from wolverine a couple years back. Came with everything except the receiver, barrel and stock. Pretty handy to have plus it came with the carrier. Give them a call
