i have 1000 lead 150gr roundnose 38 special bullets, brass, and primers.
i have looked in the books and with the chart that came with my dies. i would like to use the Lee dipper(.5) when reloading. I need help in finding a powder that will allow me to use the dipper.

the closest one i can see is imr 800x. but it also says it is for jacketed bullets. can i use this info or is it to far off?
please help.

Why not pick yourself up an inexpensive Lee Powder Scale then you can use whichever powder and weight is recommended for your cartridge.

Trying to find a powder to use 1 certain dipper doesn't make much sense to me.
 
Pitch the dipper and buy a scale. The dippers can vary the powder charge plus or minus a full grain.
You need a manual. Lyman's Pistol and Revolver Handbook has lots of 150 grain cast loads. Load for the bullet weight. The shape of the bullet doesn't matter.
2.0 to 3.6 grains of Bullseye
3.5 to 5.5 of Unique
8.0 to 11.5 of 2400 are all given in my Lyman manual for a 150 grain cast bullet.
 
Pitch the dipper and buy an electronic scale. One that measures to withing a tenth of a grain. Then get yourself the 49th ed Lyman reloading manual.

Keep the dipper but you really NEED a SCALE.

The dipper will get you close and then you can trickle the difference on your scale.

Making bullets without a scale is not a safe practice, especially with fast burning pistol powders
