So I bought 4 of these Remington 870's back in 2006 (10 years ago already!! yikes) and I believe they were CF shotguns at the time... I don't remember the whole story though and I was hoping someone could help me fill in the details if they remember.

I *think* I bought them from a company out east somewhere (I'm in AB so most places are east to me... haha) who got a bunch of them that were being sent back to Canada from overseas (maybe Afghanistan?). I don't even know if they function checked the shotguns before shipping them out to me. I believe they just looked to see if they cycled and if they looked complete and then shipped them out to the buyers.

Was anyone here in on that order? Anyone know more details or can you correct me if I'm wrong?

Either way I love my 870! I sold 3 of them off to friends over the years but I kept the 1 magnum that was in the bunch and it is the smoothest cycling 870 I've ever handled. It rides around in the back of my jeep when I'm out in the bush or on the rack of my quad. I've had it on numerous back-country canoe trips... even one "raft" trip where I tried to raft 100km on a hand-made pine log raft. Needless to say I failed and the 870 ended up in the river with me but after I hiked home and cleaned it up it still runs like a champ. It's taken many grouse and a goose or two and countless clay pigeons over the years (even with that 18" barrel)... it follows me everywhere.

Here's some pictures of then and now.

Current modifications include just the basics:
-Duracoat'd (Coyote Brown)
-Mcarbo trigger spring (3.75lb pull)
-High Viz - No Jam follower
-ATI tube extension
-XS Tritium front sight
-Hogue fore end

Simple, easy, tough, cheap.
