Looking for some info on this gun

I always see these rifles for sale , often with the description "sportered, with volley sites cut off". Can someone please post a picture of the CORRECT SIGHTS. Maybe a picture looking from the shooters position so I can once and for all see what the damn sights are supposed to look like!! :)
I'd love to pick one of these up sometime, but would like to see what a pristine example looks like , and see how much trouble it would be to revert back before I bought one. I love the idea of a different kind of .303 than the Enfield to shoot. (Not that I dislike any Enfields, but I love diversity in my lockers!!)

So I FINALLY took it out to shoot yesterday. Probably the first rounds fired thru it in 30-40 years. What a beauty. With the excitement of that, decided to strip the paint, sand the stock down and start the 'custom' restoration haha. Looked mazing when the brass started to show! will post pics when done. Thanks everyone for the advice and info.

The English language sometimes offer a very descriptive way... I like the expression vigorously sporterized... JP.

you can see the rear sit a little better here, the rear site sit down between the ears when shooting close range .Its a peep site configuration. For long range shooting the ladder flips up and the sight slides up and down the ladder in 100 yard incrimentes

A poor man's Remington Model 30. All that's missing is the finishing. A fine rifle, with one of the best stocks & safeties ever fitted to a military rifle. All machined steel and strong as all get out too; Remingtons as good as Winchesters, maybe better. With a nice bore well worth fixing up. I'd keep that stock myself and just tidy it up: high quality walnut and part of the history. Get rid of the band and sell the long range sight base to someone that needs it, taper the forend to suit, checker if you can and want to. Get rid of the home made backsight base and find a decent Express sight in a parts box at a gunshow, maybe a nice sporter foresight too? Clean up the backsight area if it's not up to snuff and rust blue it? Fit an old Lyman or Redfield peep sight if you care to. All kinds of things you could do with that rifle. Griffin & Howe mounts would suit her well too.
