Hi

Looking for some used books,

The Gunsmith of Grenville County - Building the American Longririfle

The Art of Building the Pennsylvania Longrifle

Recreating the American Longrifle

Anyone know where I can lay hands on these [in Canada] and not ebay, they seem to be $10-$20 over retail + shipping from ebay.

no deals there :(

-thanks!

I bought Recreating the American Longrifle from Track of the Wolf.

It was as good an excuse as any to buy a couple other books and get a catalog thrown in the box too.

Because the yanks have book rate postage, it can actually work out a bunch cheaper to buy from there than from Canadian sources once the delivery is in.

Otherwise, you are pretty much stuck pawing through piles of used books at gun shows, and hoping to find what you want for cheap enough. best of luck with that. Even the old pharts have smart phones, and can look up values on line.

Aside from the used lists on Amazon, check out Abe Books and any other used books lists.

Keep in mind that the dealers that are listing there, are well aware which books are in print or are no longer, so they price accordingly. And you still pay shipping.

You are in Canada. Get used to it. You won't starve to death over $10 in postage. I never did, in any case.

All of 'em are listed on Amazon.com.
Recreating the American Long rifle, at least is on Amazon.ca. You'll have to sell a kidney though. Comes out of the States. Canadian dollar price starts at $101 plus $6.49 shipping. Search the others. And blame Mulroney for high book prices.

They are on crack or just hoping to get someone stupid to come along.

$40 and said to be in stock per Track's website.

If yer too hard-up to pay retail, to get a decent book, yer in the wrong hobby, methinks. If you cannot afford books, you really cannot afford guns, gun parts, or tools! :)

If the only way you will buy books is to get 'the' book you are after, at a bargain price, there are going to be a lot of books that you are never going to get to read.

Tried the public library system? In all seriousness. The inter-library loan system can get you access to out of print and otherwise unobtainable or unaffordable books, at least for long enough to decide which are worth owning and which are not. Typically for between two weeks and a month.

All you need is a library card and some patience! Good way to screen the good from the bad.

who said anything about being hard up? I'm just looking for a deal. $$ saved on books = $$ for other fun stuff.

I did try the local library :)
