Looking for suggestions - new rifle

I second this!

Drop a nice 4-16x50 optic (I have a Nikon Monarch 3) on it and enjoy the laser beam that 6.5 creedmoor is.

All that 50mm bell is going to do is make the shooter lift his/her head higher on the but stock causing more head movement.
Pull a 30 mm tube with 40mm ocular bell 4.5-12 or 16 and you will not only gain more light , but clearer picture.
Tika and their hockey puck for a recoil pad ??
As the queen of the 375 says ''that is so last year".
Never shot one I liked,(tika)but have no dog in the fight when it comes to the 6.5C...
Heck a 240 Wby in a Vanguard with Leupold scope, bases and rings and Bob is your Uncle.

Good Hunting,

Rob

Not that a hockey puck pad matters on a 6.5 but the t3x now has done away with it.

How about a Browning x bolt hell's canyon long range in 6.5 creedmore. I've been eyeing one of those for a while now.

x2.

But I would steer you away from your coyote gun also being a big game gun. Unless you don't sell the pelts.

I have no doubt a 7mm isn’t a good caliber for what I want. Thus the reason I bought the 7 to begin with :)

I’m just a little Leary of a 30 year old gun being accurate enough to do what I want now, even though I’ve really go no reason to suspect it won’t, I’m just assuming newer is better when attempting to reach out to the limits of a caliber

I’m going to look for a kickass scope to throw on the old girl and see what it’ll do I guess. I’d still prefer to use box ammo regardless. , for the amount of shots I’ll take in a year I can waste a few shots before I could justify reloading

Most of my more accurate rifles are from the 50's to the 80's. New isn't better, quality is better, and you have that with your Sako.

A 257wby is what you want. Lil pricey in ammo but lee reloading products are cheap. Get a single stage press for $50 and a set of dies for $75. toss in a cheap digital scale and youre set.

What’s thoughts on vortex optics? Nowhere local to buy anything so I’m stuck with online, seems cabelas has the vortex vipers on sale from time to time. They look like decent bang for the buck when they go ~$150off?

Burris eliminator looks cool but that isn’t going to happen lol

Vortex makes decent stuff. I believe they have a lifetime no questions asked warranty. You can always take a look at the EE and see what's available there. You can likely get a Leupold vx3 or something similar for $500 or less.
