Looking for the best NON-RUGER rimfire pistol

I'd originally given up looking for a solid rimfire pistol (P22s are supposedly horribly inaccurate as well as jamming, same goes for the Sig Mosquito), however I thought I'd give it another shot before I just completely discount finding a dependable, accurate, and aesthetically pleasing rimfire pistol.

I've heard that Rugers are great, however I think they're butt-ugly, and the look is quite important to me as well. So does anyone know of any pretty, reliable, accurate rimfire pistols? I've looked at the Beretta 87, but I have not found much information as to its performance. Other suggestions welcome (also, the Kimber rimfire pistol is a teense on the expensive side at 1200 bucks or whatever it is).

I have a Beretta 89, which is similar to the 87, and love it. Never any problems. The Beretta is one of the most accurate pistols out there. The S&W 41 is also very nice.

Try a Ruger in SS with a fluted barrel, much better looking than the "standard" model.

The Kimber Rimfire is more like $900.00 at SIR mailorder.
There was one on the EE that sold last week for around $600.00
 
Thanks for the replies, and it appears there are a lot of good options. :D I've just had a ridiculously hard time trying to actually FIND these guns.

The Trailside looks like it's got some exciting promise, judging from the review I read of it.

The S&W M41 a very popular, as mentioned. The Beretta .22 are nice and feel real good, almost bought one last year. I don't know anyone who has one but apparently they are selling an people are happy with them.
 
My favorite is my High Standard Citation. I like the way it feels in my hand. I have a S&W 41 but have had problems with ejection when shooting under stress. Less forgiving when you break your wrist. While I have three Rugers they are down on the list of .22 that I shoot.

The Citation has the rear sight stradle slide making it harder to pull back. The Victor model has the rear sight on an extention just like the S&W model 41.

I bought my Citation used but in almost new condition. It is an older gun. I have read the newer guns may not be as good.
 
Two rimfire I wish I had bought, S&W Model 41, and a High Standard Victor. The Victor I shot once (wasnt mine) and I printed a wonderfull group. Belonged to a older fellow who sold it. Sigh, wish I had known... Get a older one if you can find one. S&W 617 are nice too but expensive.
 
I've heard many great things about the Buckmarks but I've never shot one yet. I just purchased a High Standard Supermatic Citation with the fluted barrel, from what I understand it's supose to be a hell of a pistol :)

The Beretta 87/89 is a very good pistol, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm more a form-follows-function kinda guy, I think the best looking pistols are ones like the Hammerli free pistols and the Walther GSP/OSP are the best looking.
I love my OSP! (but I would like to find a GSP conversion)

Yes I agree that Ruger rim fire pistol is ugly, but not all the butt is ugly, some is very nice:D .But if you have try one, you may change your mine. In this case I suggest you buy one good looking centerfire pistol and a .22 convert kit so that you have both.

A 22 conversion kit for a CF pistol (like the AA kit for glocks) might be a good option.

I agree, stay away from the P22s (at least the older ones).

The Rugers are ugly but they work.

I had a Browning Challenger that handled and shot quite well (not sure how the new Buckmarks hold up).

Actually, the rimfire pistols I was most satisfied with were my 617s and Ruger Single Sixes. In terms of semi autos, the Ruger was ugly but it kept on ticking. The AA kit for my G17 and G22 was pretty sweet too (fast swap, good functionality). If I had $900 to spend, I would sooner buy a used Glock and AA kit instead of the Kimber 22lr pistol but then again, I havent shot the Kimber so I might change my mind on that one (my Kimber CF pistols were all superb and I am on the prowl for another specific one already so I am sure they are worth the money).
