Looking for thoughts/opinions on a 20ga Upland Gun (O/U, SXS, or semi)

Get a Franchi 48AL. (Lightest semi-auto in the world)!!! 5 1/2 lbs in 20 gauge I believe. Time proven and tested. I have a 12 gauge in same model, and love the thing. Excellent for upland, can carry it all day. An over/under though does feels better when shouldered and when you swing (Very balanced).

I think Franchi has either stopped makingg the model 48s or will be shortly.

UPDATE....

Used Beretta A301 or used Reminton 11-87 ? Thoughts on the value of a A301. It has fixed choke. Would you have it smithed to accept screw in choke tubes?

There's currently a thread about Beretta chromed barrels - extra expensive to thread or ream open.

If you're looking for an upland gun, IC is what you want.

I have a Rem 1100 upland special in 20ga for sale. Nice compact little gun. I have chopped the stock for smaller shooters but it easily screws back on to almost original LOP-13 3/4" I believe. 21" barrel with chokes

Went out with a fellow CGN'r today and shot some skeet. We shared about 100+ clays between my Rinco and his Beretta 391. That Beretta was very smooth and light !!!

We looked at the local shops and found a few nice SXS's .

Saw a really nice Ithaca that was featherweight..

Found a really nice Browning BSS - made in Japan, Assembled in Korea. It look like it had a smith add choke tubes and they were asking $1500. It looked really nice, but is that a reasonable price to pay? It may be a tad out of my budget but it looked like a really nice SXS.

Looked at a Baikal SXS - nickel in .410 and I assume the Remington SPR 220 would be similar.

I called a few smiths to est. changing a Beretta fixed choke on a A301 to improved cylinder and the consensus is no-go... if the choke is a modified.. depending on how it patterns - would you use it for Upland?
