Looking for unobtanium part for Browning Medalist

So rare, that although there is a part number (P051722) in the parts diagram, when you go to the parts description by number, it is not listed. What I need is a .225" Diameter pin about .385" long that has flats machined on both ends that measure about .150" from round to flat. This fits through a hole in barrel Assy. and slips into a slot in the action. When the front assembly screw in the action is tightened, the pin holds the barrel down into the action. Yes, I know that parts are no longer available from Browning and I no longer have access to a machine shop. If I did, I would probably grind a 1/4" dowel pin down to size and use a surface grinder to grind the flats on each end.

Any suggestions?

I think you are on the right track with the "make it yourself" approach. From your description the machine shop would need minimal tools...... file and a hack saw.
Am I missing something? If you can't do it with hand tools I guess finding a local shop that can fabricate it would be the next step or post a wanted to buy parts gun add in the E.E.

Have a look at a drill size chart. Sounds like somewhere around a #1 (.2280) or #2 (.2210) from the number drill set might help you make what you need. A knife sharpening stone might help make the flats.

I have gotten many Medalist parts from Western Gun Parts

Needs to be snug fit in the barrel lug so it doesn't fall out when gun disassembled. Shanks of drills are usually pretty soft, but a #1 could be made to fit. However, I think the flats need to be more precise than could be done with a file to avoid canting the barrel when tightened. I will try Western Gun Parts again. Couldn't get through today. I am doubtful they will have a part that doesn't appear in the parts list.
