Hi guys & gals. Hoping to get a little help. Trying to figure out the value on a set of 6 old full stock 303's for insurance purposes. All six complete with bayonets.
I know that not all that long ago you could pick up a 303 for $50 and a cream filled donut but my searches now show that the full stock 303's are getting a little more rare. Had one of the old boys tell me that they're not worth more than $100 a piece but I've found several ads with people asking $450 - $600 for any similar to these.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers :)

(and if someone would tell me how to attach a picture, I'd do it!)

you'll need to post your pictures on a picture hosting site like tinypic.com or photobucket.com

Full wood No4 MK1's do seem to be going over the $500 mark, No1 MK3 probably much more.

Your pictures will tell the story.

And post in the Milsurp section; that's where you'll get your best answers.

A Lee Enfield with full wood in reasonable shape and bayonet will bring at least $500, depending on model, year, etc. Some particular models in certain years are worth more. Of course the old guys will tell you they are only worth $100. Some of those guys are just not up on today's prices. Some are just plain jealous, and wish they hadn't either sold theirs for $100, or cut it up to make a "handy" sporter.

My buddy and I sell at gun shows and we notice even some of the older dealers can't get past the fact that there are scads of new people looking to start collections of military rifles. Most of the real juicy stuff is safe and sound in a gun room somewhere and won't see daylight. The odd gem does come up at shows, though. I try to not bog myself down trying to do the other fellow's thinking. If somebody wants to buy an old milsurp that isn't absolutely pristine, all matching, and preferably Churchill's or Hitler's own personal weapon, so be it.

You would be best to find someone in person who has knowledge of such things and who understands clearly that you don't want to sell, and have them do a bit of research for each rifle, then give a value.

I just sold a Savage made No4 Mk1* that I restored to original configuration as it had the wood cut down. It was a good shooter and I got $550 shipped for it. Fair for me and the buyer I think. Long Branch rifles tend to bring a premium. Hope that helps.

If you are in Ontario and want a formal quote for insurance purposes, PM me. There is an appraisal company that specializes in firearms among various other items. My insurance company had no problems covering the full value of my collection. I have every thing from my Holland and Holland to my 92fs covered. I recently acquired a P14 for $120 and sent pictures over. The appraiser asked that I bring it over to the office to save money from them having to make a trip out and was presently surprized. He took everything apart and documented the serial numbers and the insurance company underwrote it for $325. As far as I am concern, that's money in my pocket. Selling it might be a different story but if there is ever a breakin, theft at the range, misplaced during a hunting trip or a fire... I am covered.

I'm not old but I'd jump at them for $100 each. I've been searching for a nice full wood model. Best I can find is $500. And that's not mint.

All six are same model. Any ideas on what they're worth?
And after I explained to the old boys that they're worth more than $100 a piece, they're open to us selling them as we're not going to have a show rifle team again.

Nah, those old junkers are only worth $100 each, I was completely wrong in my original assessment. Give me your address and I'll take them off your hands before someone hurts themselves with them. ;)

In all seriousness though, they look to be in pretty good condition, and unless I'm mistaken they're Fazakerley rifles. If the rifling is good, I'd say $500-$600/rifle is not unreasonable, but I'm far from an Enfield expert.

If I were you, I would get a proffessional appraisal, that collection looks really good. I am surprised that a collection like that is not being treasured by the owners or legion hall that it belongs to. What is that seventh rifle on the bottom? Any one know by looking?

If you advertise them for $500 plus shipping you will have $3k in a week. If you try to replace them with like quality offering $600 each it will take at least a year.

As long as they're in firing condition, and not de-activated, I think $6-650 would be fair to both parties. As someone already mentioned, Long Branch manufacture carries a premium in this country. I watched one go at auction recently for over $1000, taxes and premiums all in. If you post the same question and pics in the milsurp forum you'll likely get a more accurate appraisal.

As others previously mentioned, many are tucked away for no one to appreciate. We're thinking about modernizing our hall which will require clearing some wall space and five or six new collectors could benefit from this.
Would be keeping the Ross that is hiding at the bottom of the picture as well as an original long branch that was used by one of our past vets in WWII and is also here on display.
I'll go chat in the milsurp side but figured I'd update the post here long enough for you guys to catch the story :)
Thanks for the advice :)
